Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsNashville, TN – Austin Peay State University head basketball coach Dave Loos was part of a six-coach panel Wednesday that spoke at the annual Coaches vs. Cancer Tipoff luncheon, held at the Curb Event Center.

Loos, Belmont’s Rick Byrd, Middle Tennessee’s Kermit Davis, Tennessee State coach Dana Ford, Lipscomb coach Casey Alexander and Vanderbilt coach Kevin Stallings answered topical questions from radio personality George Plaster, of 102.5 The Game in Nashville who served as emcee of the event.

APSU Governors Basketball overcomes slow first half to beat Bryan 63-52

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TNChris Freeman made his first nine shots while his Austin Peay State University teammates rebounded from a sluggish first half to defeat Bryan College, 63-52, Wednesday night in men’s exhibition basketball action played in the Dunn Center.

With the victory APSU closed out the exhibition season 2-0 and will open regular-season play, 4:00pm, Saturday, February 15th, at Western Kentucky. Bryan, a NAIA school located in Dayton, Tennessee, fell to 3-1 on the season.

APSU Governors Basketball to face Bryan in final exhibition at the Dunn Center

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – After a relatively short turnaround, Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team will play its final exhibition game when it plays host to Bryan College, 7:00pm, Wednesday, in Dave Aaron Arena.

This will serve as APSU’s final tune-up before it opens regular-season play 4:00pm, Saturday, November 15th, at Western Kentucky.  The Governors handed Webster an 82-48 defeat Saturday in the exhibition opener.

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – After months of anticipation, Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team finally got the opportunity to step on the hardwood in front of its supporters.

Behind a pair of 17-point performances from guards Khalil Davis and Zavion Williams, the Governors defeated Webster, 82-48, from the Dunn Center on Saturday.

APSU Governors Basketball plays exhibition game against Webster at Dunn Center, Saturday

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – After nearly a month of practicing and playing against itself, a new-look Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team finally will play someone else, 6:00pm, Saturday, when the Govs battle Webster College in an exhibition contest in Dave Aaron Arena.

The Governors will combine seven returnees, including preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference selection Chris Horton (13.2 ppg, 9.5 rpg), 92 blocks) with six newcomers Saturday and Dave Loos, heading into his 25th APSU season, is anxious to see how his club begins to mesh.

Governors Club members, season-ticket holders and basketball fans alike will have an opportunity to preview Austin Peay’s men and women’s teams in a light-hearted mixed scrimmage at the Dunn Center.

The “Peay Team” – Austin Peay basketball broadcast duo of Greg Walker and David Loos – will be on the bench during the scrimmage.

Back in 2010-11 the Govs actually brought in seven, including Will Triggs, TyShwan Edmondson and Josh Terry.

Austin Peay State University Men’s Basketball at Murray State to be televised on CBS Sports Network

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUBrentwood, TN – Austin Peay State University’s February 21st men’s basketball contest at Murray State will be one of seven Ohio Valley Conference contests to air exclusively on CBS Sports Network this season.

The Govs-Racers contest, called the OVC’s Best Rivalry on many fronts, will be a 1:00pm contest at CFSB Center. Last season’s Governors-Racers game in Clarksville, January 31st, also was telecast by the CBS Sports Network. More than 4,000 spectators watched the contest.
