Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Clarksville native Reed Harper received a rough welcome from his teammates at home plate after his walk-off home run helped the Govs complete a doubleheader sweep of Illinois State, Saturday.

Austin Peay won the opener 2-0 before winning the night cap in come-from-behind fashion, 3-2, at Raymond C. Hand Park.

Austin Peay Lady Govs Basketball fall to the Southeast Missouri Redhawks

 

APSU Sports: Austin Peay Women’s Basketball

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsCape Girardeau, MO – Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team suffered its sixth consecutive loss, falling 69-60 to Southeast Missouri in Ohio Valley Conference action, Monday’s night, at the Show Me Center.

The storylines in Monday’s loss echoed many of the same themes as its previous losses – surrendering a first-half lead and losing the rebounding battle. Yet a new twist emerged as Austin Peay struggled defensively against a Southeast Missouri team that entered the game ranked last among OVC schools in offensive production.

Austin Peay Governors Basketball gets mauled by Tennessee State Tigers

 

APSU Sports: Austin Peay Men’s Basketball

Austin Peay State University GovernorsNashville, TN – Despite getting 21 points from John Fraley, Austin Peay men’s basketball team lost 77-57 in Ohio Valley Conference action at Tennessee State, Monday night.

Fraley and Melvin Baker – 14 points -  combined to make 13 of 20 shots, while the rest of the Govs combined to make only 6 of 29 from the floor. Tennessee State, meanwhile, shot 68 percent (19 of 48) in the second half for a total 53-percent shooting performance.

Austin Peay Governors Basketball lose Thursday night to Southeast Missouri

 

APSU Sports: Austin Peay Men’s Basketball

Austin Peay State University GovernorsCape Girardeau, MO – Two blocked shots and a tip in of a missed shot prevented Austin Peay State University from completing an improbable comeback, Thursday night.

Trailing by as much as 17 first-half points, Austin Peay rallied to take the lead but could not close out the comeback as Southeast Missouri ended the game on a 6-0 run to defeat the Governors, 65-60, in Ohio Valley Conference action at the Show Me Center.

Austin Peay Lady Govs Basketball unable to solve league-leading Eastern Illinois

 

APSU Sports: Austin Peay Women’s Basketball

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsCharleston, IL – For 12 minutes Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team kept pace with Ohio Valley Conference leading Eastern Illinois, but it was the final 28 minutes that proved its demise en route to an 80-46 loss, Saturday night, at Lantz Arena.

Austin Peay (5-15, 2-5 OVC) led 26-22 after Nicole Olszewski’s three pointer. At that point, the Lady Govs were shooting 47.8 percent (11-of-23) from the floor and had committed just two turnovers.

APSU Sports: Austin Peay Men’s Basketball

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Isaiah Canaan scored 27 of his game-high 35 points in the first half to spark No. 18/19 Murray State to a 87-75 Ohio Valley Conference victory, Saturday night, in Dave Aaron Arena.

The victory improved Murray State to 16-0 overall and 4-0 in the OVC. They are just one of three unbeatens at the Division I level.

Turnovers doom Austin Peay Lady Govs Basketball in loss at Morehead State

 

APSU Sports Information: Austin Peay Basketball

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsMorehead, KY – A turnover-prone first half effort doomed Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team in a 74-67 loss to Morehead State, Saturday afternoon, in Ohio Valley Conference action at Johnson Arena.

Austin Peay (3-12, 0-2 OVC) trailed by three points, 17-14, with 9:53 remaining before the worst of its offensive woes hit. The Lady Govs would go the next 5:32 without scoring, missing four shots and turning the ball over six times on its nine possessions during that span.

Austin Peay Lady Govs Basketball snap losing streak with overtime win at Belmont

 

APSU Sports Information: Austin Peay Basketball

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsNashville, TN – Senior Whitney Hanley’s jumper with 1.8 seconds remaining in overtime gave Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team a 58-56 victory against Belmont, in non-conference action, Sunday afternoon, at Curb Event Center.

Austin Peay (3-8), which snapped an eight-game losing streak with the win, overcame a nearly 15-minute stretch without a field goal. The Lady Govs led 13-12 on Hanley’s three-pointer with 10:02 left in the first half. However, Austin Peay would not make another field goal until freshman Shira Buley’s layup at the 15:45 mark of the second half.
