Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Freshman forward Terry Taylor, of the Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Taylor poured in a career-high 30 points—his first career 30-point outing and the first by an Austin Peay freshman since 1999 (Nick Stapleton, Middle Tennessee) against Evansville, Saturday. He hit 12-of-17 from the floor, collecting six rebounds and blocking a career-best three shots as the Govs took the Purple Aces into overtime.

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Freshman outside hitter Brooke Moore, of the Austin Peay State University football team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

The Louisville native led Austin Peay to its first Ohio Valley Conference Tournament title since 2010, leading the tournament with 48 kills and posting a .305 attack percentage in contests against Southeast Missouri, Eastern Kentucky and Murray State. In the process, she became the first freshman in league history to take tournament MVP honors.

APSU Athlete of the Week Kyran Moore

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Senior wide receiver and return specialist Kyran Moore, of the Austin Peay State University football team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Moore was named STATS FCS National Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance against FBS No. 17 UCF, which included a 91-yard kick return for a score in the second quarter. The Bessemer, Alabama native also hauled in five catches for 130 yards and a touchdown, accumulating a 2017 Division I-best 363 all-purpose yards on the day.

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Sophomore punter Devin Stuart, of the Austin Peay State University football team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

The Kingsport, Tennessee native put fourth-ranked Jacksonville State on their heels time and again last weekend, reversing field on one of the Ohio Valley Conference’s most potent on multiple occasions. On seven attempts, he averaged 48.3 yards per punt—best in the Ohio Valley Conference this season and second-highest in program history—including three 50-yard boots and two inside the Gamecock 20-yard line.

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Early Thursday morning, Austin Peay State University’s official athletics website – LetsGoPeay.com – was taken offline and when it reemerged it appeared with a new look as the department completed its redesign with the aid of SIDEARM Sports.

The latest version of LetsGoPeay.com reinforces the athletics department’s commitment to providing Austin Peay fans with a top-of-the-line website to find all the latest news and information for each of the 16 Governors NCAA programs.

“We are excited to present a new look to LetsGoPeay.com,” said APSU Director of Athletics Ryan Ivey. “We believe the up-to-date design will present the best coverage of Austin Peay athletics to our fans. We are pleased to continue our partnership with SIDEARM Sports and look forward to working with them closely in the future.”

Mary Parker Powell selected APSU Athlete of the Week

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Sophomore keeper Mary Parker Powell, of the Austin Peay State University women’s soccer team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

The Germantown native kept a clean sheet in 135 minutes of action last week, earning a shutout with five saves against Little Rock, Sunday, and pairing with senior Lindsey Todd to keep Mississippi Valley State off the scoreboard during Friday night’s affair.

Sunday’s contest was not without its share of pressure-packed moments. In the 87th minute, Powell turned aside a Quin Wilkes penalty kick to preserve the shutout.

Austin Peay Baseball’s Alex Robles earns second APSU Athletic of the Week award

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University baseball team senior utility player Alex Robles has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

In Sunday’s rubber match against UT Martin, Robles earned another in a series of firsts in his Austin Peay career—his first cycle, in a 5-for-5 effort that paced the Govs to an 8-5 win against the Skyhawks. Additionally, Robles earned the win on the mound with a six-inning, six-strikeout performance—the first known instance of a player hitting for the cycle and earning the win on the mound in the same game.

The campaign began 6:00pm, Monday, and will continue as 90 hours of giving to raise $90,000 for Austin Peay State University. Included in that is $25,000 worth of matching gifts directly benefiting Governors Athletics.

Those matches came from several generous donors, including Tom Edwards, Jack Turner, Kevin Kennedy Jr. and Adonia Kennedy, First Advantage Bank, The City Forum, Carl and Paula Henderson, Ed Walls, and Kevin and Lisa Carter.

Almantas Ozelis named APSU Athlete of the Week

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Sophomore Almantas Ozelis, of the Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Ozelis was named adidas®/Ohio Valley Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week after leading the Govs to an upset of Eastern Kentucky, which will be seeded second in this week’s OVC Men’s Tennis Tournament Championship. Ozelis and Aleh Drobysh teamed up for a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles, helping the Govs secure the doubles point, before rallying for a 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 victory in No. 1 singles against Ramon van Flymen.

APSU Athlete of the Week Erik Hedberg

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s golf team senior Erik Hedberg has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Hedberg was runner-up at the Tiger Invitational, sharing the honor out of the 96-man field with Missouri’s Hayden Buckley after shooting a four-under par 212 (71-72-69). The Barcelona native led the tournament in birdies (19) and averaged a tournament-best 3.67 strokes per hole on par-4 attempts; he rolled in eight birdies overall and shot three-under on par-4s during Tuesday’s final round.
