APSU Governors Baseball heads to Morehead State Eagles; Weekend Schedule Changed

APSU Baseball - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s baseball team will look to jump back on the winning track when it meets Morehead State in a three-game Ohio Valley Conference set at Allen Field.

Due to rain in the forecast, the weekend schedule has been modified. The series will start with a 1:30pm (CT), Friday doubleheader with a 1:00pm (CT), Saturday contest currently scheduled for the finale.

Austin Peay State University Softball games at Southeast Missouri have schedule changed

APSU Softball - Austin Peay State UniversityCape Girardeau, MO – With the forecast of heavy rain over the weekend, Austin Peay State University will see its three-game Ohio Valley Conference softball series start at Southeast Missouri pushed up a day.

Originally scheduled for a Saturday-Sunday matchup, the Governors (7-34, 3-18 OVC) now will open play versus the Redhawks (13-30, 7-14 OVC) with a 2:00pm, Friday doubleheader at the Southeast Softball Complex, with the Saturday single game start time still to be determined with the weather trepidations.

APSU Governors Golf finishes OVC Tournament in eighth

APSU Men's Golf - Austin Peay State UniversityMuscle Shoals, AL – You couldn’t blame Austin Peay State University men’s golf coach Robbie Wilson for playing “The What If Game,” Wednesday, after the final round of the Ohio Valley Conference tournament, played on the Robert Trent Jones Trail Fighting Joe Course at the Shoals.

With seniors Austin Kramer and Chris Baker leading the way, his Governors shot a 3-under 285—tying for the day’s low round—to move up to eighth in the final tourney standings.

APSU Baseball - Austin Peay State UniversityNashville, TN – Second baseman Garrett Copeland and right fielder Chase Hamilton each hit home runs, but Austin Peay State University’s baseball team surrendered three late runs in an 8-5 loss to No. 8 Vanderbilt, Tuesday afternoon at Hawkins Field.

Austin Peay (25-14) got off to a quick start as Copeland hit a leadoff home run on the game’s second pitch from Vanderbilt’s Donny Everett.

In fact, the Fighting Joe course literally left the Governors black and blue as they had seven blue numbers (double bogeys) and three black numbers (three or more over par) en route to a 310 total.

APSU Baseball - Austin Peay State UniversityBrentwood, TN – Junior Logan Gray, of the Austin Peay State University baseball team, was named adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week, Monday, the conference office announced.

In addition, the Leawood, Kansas, native was one of six players named to the Louisville Slugger® National Player of the Week list and received recognition in Baseball America’s weekly “Off the Bat” report.

APSU Men's Golf - Austin Peay State UniversityMuscle Shoals, AL – There are greens and then there is green in golf terminology. And in the case of Austin Peay State University men’s golf team green—as in green boxes–meant too many bogeys during first-round Ohio Valley Conference championship action at The Shoals on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Alabama.

The Governors avoided the big numbers for the most but had 27 bogeys and shot a first-round 300 to sit in fifth place heading into Tuesday’s second round on the par-72, 7,258-yard Fighting Joe course.

APSU Baseball - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – A tough five-game, six-day stretch awaits Austin Peay State University’s baseball team as April comes to a close. First up, the Governors will face nationally-ranked Vanderbilt in a 1:00pm, Tuesday contest in Nashville.

APSU then hosts a red-hot Evansville squad in a 6:00pm, Wednesday affair at Raymond C. Hand Park.
