Austin Peay State Univeristy Governors Golf in 9th place at GolfWeek Conference Challenge

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUBurlington, IA – A slow start and a halting finish offset some strong mid-round play as Austin Peay State University men’s golf team remains in ninth place after two rounds of the Golfweek Conference Challenge, being played at Spirit Hollow Golf Course.

The Govs played the opening hole (No. 10) at 5-over par and closed the round (No. 9) at 4-over.

APSU Lady Govs Basketball releases 2014-15 Schedule

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, TN – Two in-season tournaments plus a move away from Monday Ohio Valley Conference contests highlight the 2014-15 Austin Peay State University women’s basketball schedule, head coach Carrie Daniels presented, Monday.

The Lady Govs will compete in two in-season tournaments for the first time since the 2007-08 season.

Local Community celebrates opening of new APSU Govenor’s Stadium

 

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – On Saturday the community gathered on Austin Peay State University to attend the ceremonies opening the brand new APSU Governors Football Stadium. The new world-class facility replaces a 68 year old stadium originally built in 1946 as the Clarksville Municipal Stadium.

The new stadium cost $19 million, and has four levels, with most of the offices and dressing rooms, as well as a training room, on the first floor. On the second floor, there will be meeting rooms and an additional weight room. Fans on levels 3 and 4 will find the amenities of club seating and skyboxes – new features to the stadium. The skyboxes are tiered stadium-type seating with up to 22 seats per viewing room. In addition, each skybox has a bar with locations for bar stools, tables and chairs to seat four to six people.

Instant Peay Play: APSU slow starts not the end with Ohio Valley Conference play right around the corner

 

Legends Bank, Clarksville TNClarksville, TN – There haven’t been a lot of wins so far this fall for Austin Peay teams, but with Ohio Valley Conference contests right around the corner, don’t count out the Governors or Lady Govs just yet.

Overall win-loss records are important, without a question, but it’s the OVC games that mean more than the pre-season with berths into the postseason keyed on those contests.

Austin Peay State University Governors Golf’s Austin Kramer tied for fourth at Golfweek Conference Challenge

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUBurlington, IA – Junior Austin Kramer sits in a fourth-place tie after Day 1 of the Golfweek Conference Challenge while he and his Austin Peay State University teammates sit in ninth place overall after Sunday’s opening round, being played at Spirit Hollow Golf Course.

The Knoxville Tennessee junior, Kramer had five birdies and three bogeys on the par-72, 7,222-yard layout as the Govs shot an 11-over 299.

Hendricks Fox inducted into APSU Red Coat Society

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Hendricks Fox, a former all-conference center for the Austin Peay football team in the late 1940s and early 1950s who since has been a benevolent donor to Governors Athletics, was inducted into the Red Coat Society during APSU’s football game with Chattanooga, Saturday afternoon.

The Red Coat Society, now in its 11th year, serves as a Hall of Fame of service for the Governors Club, APSU’s Athletics booster club.

Fox was instrumental in Austin Peay’s return to scholarship football in 2006.

APSU Governors Football loses to Chattanooga Mocs 42-6

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – Chattanooga scored on its last possession of the first half and the first three times it touched the ball in the second as the Mocs rolled to a 42-6 victory against Austin Peay State University, Saturday, ruining the debut of new Governors Stadium.

The loss left APSU 0-2 on the season while Chattanooga, the Southern Conference favorite, recorded its first victory after two difficult early-season losses.
