APSU Women’s Tennis loses at Eastern Kentucky, 6-1

APSU Women's TennisRichmond, KY – Austin Peay State University women’s tennis team could not overcome Eastern Kentucky in the regular season finale, falling 6-1, Friday, at the Tom Higgins Outdoor Courts.

The Govs (10-8, 6-3 OVC) knew they would be playing for seeding in next week’s Ohio Valley Conference Tournament, but the Colonels (13-8, 8-0 OVC) still were playing for an OVC regular season title, which will be decided tomorrow. The Colonels came out of the gate fast, winning easily at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to claim the doubles point.

APSU Men's TennisRichmond, KY – Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team put up a valiant fight against Eastern Kentucky, but fell in the regular season finale, 4-3, at the Tom Higgins Outdoor Courts.

The Govs (2-16, 1-4 OVC) were looking to gain some momentum before the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament next week and came out of the gates hot.

APSU Women’s Tennis player Lidia Yanes Garcia earns second OVC Player of the Week award

APSU Women's TennisClarksville, TNLidia Yanes Garcia, of the Austin Peay State University women’s team, nabbed her second adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Tennis Player of the Week award this season, as announced by the league office, Wednesday.

Yanes Garcia shares the award this week with Jacksonville State’s Genevie Ulanday. Yanes Garcia had a stellar week, going unbeaten while winning two No. 2 doubles matches and two No. 1 singles matches.

APSU Women's TennisClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s tennis team fell to rivals Murray State, 5-2, in the Heritage Bank Battle of the Border, Tuesday, at the Governors Tennis Courts.

The match had more implications than just three points towards the winning school’s Battle of the Border points tally.

APSU Women's TennisClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s tennis team hosts rival Murray State in a pivotal Ohio Valley Conference match, 2:00pm, Tuesday. The match is also part of the Heritage Bank Battle of the Border series between the two schools.

The Govs (10-6, 6-1 OVC) come into the match on a hot streak, winners of their last five and their last nine out of ten matches overall.

APSU Men's TennisClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team provided a clutch performance en route to earning its first Ohio Valley Conference win of the season, defeating Eastern Illinois, 5-2, Saturday, at the Governors Indoor Tennis Center.

The Govs (2-15, 1-4 OVC) started out hot with the No. 1 doubles team of Almantas Ozelis and Aleh Drobysh picking up a win.
