APSU Women's BasketballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team will have two more fresh faces when classes start at month’s end as Alecia Gulledge, of Bolingbrook, Illinois, and Gabby Gregory, who is originally from Irving, Texas, have signed scholarships to close the 2017-18 recruiting period.

Gulledge, a 5-10 forward, comes to Clarksville after playing two seasons for head coach Mike Helmer at Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kansas.

Instant Peay Play: APSU Governors shine in classroom during past school year

 

Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – When the Ohio Valley Conference announced its year-end totals for academic excellence among its member schools, Austin Peay State University’s student athletes again proved to be among the best in the OVC.

First, the OVC announced that among all the conference sponsored sports 221 total student athletes earned the OVC Academic Medal of Honor for the 2016-17 school year.

The OVC Academic Medal of Honor is given to the student athletes who post the highest grade-point average in each sport, which this year required a perfect 4.0 grade-point average for the year.

88 APSU Governors named to OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsBrentwood, TN – Eighty-eight Austin Peay State University student-athletes were named to the Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll, Friday, following the 2016-17 academic year.

Student-athletes must have achieved a 3.25 grade-point average, were eligible and on the team throughout the competitive season in their chose NCAA-sponsored sport(s) and used a season of competition in that sport.

Austin Peay’s numbers include 22 athletes who competed in multiple sports during the season and are counted just once in the department’s total.

Seventeen APSU Athletes earn OVC Academic Medal of Honor

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsBrentwood, TN – Seventeen Austin Peay State University student-athletes have earned the Ohio Valley Conference’s Academic Medal of Honor for their performance in the classroom during the 2016-17 academic year.

The 17 Governors recognized were among a group of 221 OVC student-athletes that will receive the Academic Medal of Honor, which recognizes those student-athletes that achieve the highest grade-point average in a league sponsored sport.

Tubner joins the Governors after previously serving as the only assistant coach at Arkansas Tech since 2014.

APSU Athletes post fourth-best semester GPA in department history

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Twelve Austin Peay State University athletics’ teams posted 3.0 grade point averages during the spring semester marking the fourth-best GPA in department history.

The women’s tennis program led the way with a 3.892 mark, placing all seven team members on the Dean’s List. The rest of the top-five included women’s cross country (3.605), women’s golf (3.530), dance team (3.378) and women’s soccer (3.355).

Nine APSU Governors squads post best-ever NCAA APR number

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsIndianapolis, IN – Nine of Austin Peay State University’s 14 intercollegiate athletic teams posted their best-ever multi-year Academic Progress Rate in the most recent release NCAA’s APR Report, Wednesday.

The NCAA released the complete four-year APR rates for each of Austin Peay’s 14 teams – women’s indoor and outdoor track and field were combined into one sport-group beginning with this year’s data.

APSU Basketball Alumni Tiasha Gray signs multi-year pro contract in Israel

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – After an impressive debut season overseas in Sweden, former Austin Peay State University women’s basketball great Tiasha Gray has signed a professional deal in Israel’s top league.

Gray will suit up for Bnot Hertzeliya over the next three seasons, with team options for 2018-19 and 2019-20.

Last October, the Clarksville native inked a deal with Swedish club Mark Basket where she went on to lead the league in scoring at 24.3 points per game and steals with 3.6.

APSU Women's BasketballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team announced Thursday the addition of three players – Brandi Ferby, Bri Ferby and Jemiah Harrison – who signed National Letters of Intent during the spring signing period.

The trio joins Michaela Campbell, Myah LeFlore and Kelen Kenol to make up a six member 2017 recruiting class, the second under head coach David Midlick.

APSU Women’s Basketball earns OVC Team Sportsmanship Award

APSU Women's Basketball - Austin Peay State UniversityBrentwood, TN – For the first time since the 2013-14 season, the Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team earned the Ohio Valley Conference Team Sportsmanship Award.

On Tuesday the conference office announced the recipients of the 2016-17 accolades for men’s and women’s basketball. Belmont received the honor on the men’s side.
