Brentwood, TN – On Tuesday the Ohio Valley Conference announced that Tennessee Tech University men’s team and the Austin Peay State University women’s team are the recipients of the 2012-13 Team Sportsmanship Awards for golf.
Voted on by the student-athletes and coaches of the respective sports, the team awards are bestowed upon the Conference squads deemed to have best exhibited the standards of sportsmanship and ethical behavior as outlined by the OVC and NCAA. Included in the areas for evaluation are the conduct of student-athletes, coaches, staff and administrators and fans.

APSU Lady Govs Golf finishes fifth at OVC Tournament

Dickson, TN - Austin Peay State University women’s golf team was left black and blue over the final holes in the Ohio Valley Conference golf championships, Tuesday, played at GreyStone. As a result, the Lady Govs ended in fifth place after shooting a final-round 317 for a 938 total.

Austin Peay State University Women’s Golf’s Jessica Cathey selected to All-OVC, All-Newcomer teams

Dickson, TN – Jessica Cathey, who joined the Austin Peay State University women’s golf team starting lineup as a freshman and became the Lady Govs’ top golfer, has been named All-Ohio Valley Conference as well as being named to the league’s All-Newcomer team.
Cathey played in all 12 Lady Govs regular-season matches. In 23 rounds, the Hixon, Tennessee, native shot less than 80 15 times and tallied five Top 5 finishes.

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs Golf in sixth place after first round of OVC Tournament

Dickson, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s golf team got off to a swift start, Sunday afternoon, in the first round of the Ohio Valley Conference championships but could not maintain the momentum. As a result, the Lady Govs sit in sixth place heading into second round of the championship, being played at GreyStone Golf Club in Dickson, TN.

APSU Women’s Golf Coach Sara Robson balances golf and family

Clarksville, TN – Sara Robson knew life was going to change. She just wasn’t sure how much.
When the Austin Peay State University head women’s golf coach gave birth to her first child, Kaitlyn Hope (or Boomer, as she’s was nicknamed by the Lady Govs golfers during Robson’s pregnancy after listening to an ultrasound), last summer, she knew that things would be different in her professional and personal life. But nine months into motherhood, Robson is enjoying the balance of being a mom and a Division I golf coach.

APSU’s Jessica Cathey named Ohio Valley Conference Adidas Female Golfer of the Week

Clarksville, TN – Freshman Jessica Cathey, who shot a career-best 1-under 71 in Austin Peay State University’s dual match victory against Belmont, has been named the Ohio Valley Conference adidas® Female Golfer of the Week.
It was the first such honor for Cathey, APSU’s first-year player from Hixon. And she earned it with a trio of solid rounds as APSU played three weekend dual matches.

APSU Lady Govs Golf loses close match to Murray State Lady Racers

Hopkinsville, KY – Murray State edged Austin Peay State University 301-305 in a dual women’s golf match played Saturday afternoon at The Links at Novadell. The Lady Govs recorded four scores under 80 while Murray State had three . But the combination of Alli Weaver (71) and Delany Howsom (72) combined for 1-under par to push the Lady Racers to victory.
