APSU Men’s Golf Team headed to Tempe Arizona for NCAA Tournament

 

Austin Peay State University Governors SportsClarksville, TNAustin Peay State University men’s golf team will be heading west to participate in the NCAA Division I Regional.

The Governors, who were awarded a No. 12 seed after earning the Ohio Valley Conference automatic bid with their recent tourney championship, will head to Tempe, AZ, to play at the ASU Karsten Golf Course.

Clarksville’s Blake Jenkines, former Kenwood Basketball star, to play in NCAA Tournament

Blake Jenkines – Hampton University

Hampton, VA – Former Kenwood High School basketball star Blake Jenkines is living the dream of any college athlete by going to the NCAA Basketball Tournament. She and her Hampton University Lady Pirates, champions of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, will be a #15 seed playing #2 seed Duke University, Sunday in Cameron Indoor Stadium at 12:05pm ET.

The game will be televised live on ESPN2.

The Lady Pirates (28-5) are the No. 15 seed in the Norfolk Region, while the Atlantic Coast Conference champion Blue Devils (30-2) are the No. 2 seed.

Nashville Predators announce New Long-Term TV Rights Agreement with FOX Sports Tennessee

Nashville PredatorsNashville, TN – The National Hockey League’s Nashville Predators and the team’s exclusive regional television partner FOX Sports Tennessee, along with sister station SportSouth, today announced a new long-term television rights agreement. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Under the new agreement, FOX Sports Tennessee and SportSouth will televise a minimum of 75 Nashville Predators regular-season games beginning in the 2013-14 season, reaching over 4 million cable and satellite households across Tennessee, Kentucky and northern portions of Alabama and Mississippi. «Read the rest of this article»

Austin Peay Governors Football lose to Virginia Tech 42-7

Austin Peay State University GovernorsBlackburg, VA – Logan Thomas threw for 212 yards and two touchdowns to lead No. 15/18 Virginia Tech to a 42-7 victory against resilient Austin Peay State University, Saturday afternoon, in a non-conference game.

Virginia Tech, an Atlantic Coast Conference powerhouse, moves to 2-0 on the season while APSU falls to 0-2. The Govs will open Ohio Valley Conference play next week at Tennessee State.

Austin Peay Governors Football are on the road this weekend to face No. 15/18 Virginia Tech

Austin Peay State University GovernorsBlacksburg, VA – In the last three years Austin Peay has played Big 10 (Wisconsin) and Big East (Cincinnati) programs for the first time in University history. This weekend the Governors will play an Atlantic Coast Conference school for the first time when they travel to Blacksburg, VA, to face Virginia Tech.

Kickoff will occur 12:34pm, CDT from Lane Stadium, considered one of most difficult places in the country to play for visiting teams. For a second straight week, APSU will have a game broadcast by ESPN3. John Sadak and John Gregory will have the call while Rontina McCann will serve as sidelines reporter.

The contest-the first time APSU will play an ACC program-will be played in famed Lane Stadium and broadcast online at ESPN3.

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Add another power conference and a Top 20 opponent to Austin Peay State University’s list of future football opponents.

In fact, Austin Peay will play Virginia Tech, September 8th, 2012, at Lane Stadium in Blacksburg, VA, in next season’s second game. Virginia Tech is representing the Atlantic Coast Conference in this year’s Allstate Sugar Bowl, January 3rd, in New Orleans. It is the 25th bowl trip for the Hokies in their 118-season history.

Bat Govs sent to Altanta to face Georgia Tech in NCAA Regional

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN - Austin Peay State University’s baseball team, the 2011 Ohio Valley Conference tournament champion, will travel to Atlanta, GA, 6:00pm (CDT), Friday, to face host Georgia Tech in NCAA Baseball Tournament regional play, the NCAA announced Monday.

The Governors (33-22), who earned the OVC’s automatic bid by sweeping through the league tournament in Jackson over the weekend, will play host Georgia Tech (40-19) at Russ Chandler Stadium.  Georgia Tech, which earned an at-large bid, went 1-2 over the weekend in the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament.
