Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – The red-hot Austin Peay State University baseball team jumps right into the Ohio Valley Conference battle this weekend when they visit Eastern Illinois for a three game series at Coaches Stadium.

This is week 2 of the league race after 10 teams opened the campaign last weekend, including Eastern Illinois which lost a three game series to SIU Edwardsville.

APSU Athlete of the Week Lauren de Castro

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Junior Lauren de Castro, of the Austin Peay State University softball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

de Castro opened the 2013 softball season with a complete-game shutout against East Tennessee State at Auburn’s Plainsman Invitational, Saturday. She scattered five hits and struck out two without allowing a walk, while going 3-for-3 at the plate with a triple and an RBI.

Bashaara Graves continues to make headlines

 

Clarksville, TN – It is no surprise that another Clarksville student athlete is making headlines at the next level.  Such is the case for former Clarksville High School basketball star Bashaara Graves.  Now playing for the University of Tennessee “Lady Vols”, Graves has racked up her fourth SEC Women’s Basketball Freshman of the Week honor.

Austin Peay Lady Govs Volleyball to play in Hampton Inn Bama Bash Tournament this weekend

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsTuscaloosa, AL – For the second consecutive season, Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team will compete in the Hampton Inn Bama Bash, hosted by Alabama, this weekend at Foster Auditorium.

Austin Peay (2-8) has been playing a frenetic schedule with 10 matches in the season’s first 11 days. The Lady Govs will tack on four more matches in this weekend’s event, beginning with a 2:00pm, Friday contest against East Tennessee.
