Austin Peay State University announces Athletics Hall of Fame Inductees

 

APSU - Austin Peay State University SportsClarksville, TN – Two of the greatest Governors athletes in their respective sports and the department’s longtime sports information director have been selected to Austin Peay State University Athletics Hall of Fame.

In addition, a former superb football/basketball player who paid the ultimate price in defense of his country, was selected to the Hall of Fame as part of it Legends category.

Austin Peay Lady Govs Track and Field’s Chantelle Grey to face NCAA’s best at SPIRE Invite Indoor Track and Field

 

APSU Sports: Austin Peay Women’s Track and Field

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Junior Chantelle Grey, of the Austin Peay State University women’s track and field team will have a chance to challenge some of the NCAA’s top runners at Saturday’s SPIRE Indoor Track and Field Invitational.

Grey – who is slated to run the 800-meters – will be one of a handful of individuals to compete at the prestigious invitation-only event held at the Olympic-grade SPIRE Institute. The magnificent indoor track facility seats more than 5,000 spectators and features a 300-meter, eight-lane track.

Austin Peay Governors vs. UT Martin

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Saturday’s victory against Tennessee State allowed Austin Peay to open 2-0 in the OVC for the first time since 1977, the same season the Govs opened 3-0 for the last time.

When APSU rallied from being down 27-6, that 21-point deficit was the largest overcome by the Governors in school history. The previous largest deficit was 17 points, October 28th, 1978, when the Governors rallied from a 17-0 deficit to defeat Middle Tennessee, 28-17.

Govs-Chattanooga to begin four-game series in 2013

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s football team will meet Chattanooga in a four-game series beginning in 2013, head coach Rick Christophel announced Friday.

The Governors and Mocs will meet for the first time since 1968 when they renew the series in 2013 with a September 14th contest at Finley Stadium. The last time the two in-state squads met, Austin Peay Hall of Fame member Harold “Red” Roberts was beginning his freshman campaign.
