Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay women’s basketball team begins the 2012 campaign with a matinee performance – a noon, Friday contest against UAB at Bartow Arena. The Lady Govs are 15-21 all time in season openers, including a 2-4 record under head coach Carrie Daniels.
APSU and UAB will meet for the fourth consecutive season, with UAB winning the previous three meetings.

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay concludes its two-game homestand when it hosts UAB in a 7:00pm, Saturday contest. The Lady Govs return to action after an off-night against nationally-ranked Vanderbilt that saw them commit a season-high 22 turnovers.
UAB boasts one of the nation’s stingiest defenses, holding opponents under 50 points per game – ranking 17th nationally in scoring defense while – while ranking 12th nationally with a +9.3 turnover margin.

Lady Govs rally in second half, but can’t put out Blazers

Birmingham, AL – Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team wrapped up the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 60-55 loss to UAB, Sunday afternoon, at Bartow Arena.
Austin Peay (4-12) got out of the gate quickly, grabbing a 9-2 lead in the opening four minutes as senior Brook Faulkner scored five points on a jumper and a three-point field goal. The lead did not last long as UAB (8-5) used a 12-2 run over the next four minutes to take a 14-11 lead.

Lady Govs ready for final non-conference tilt at UAB, Sunday

APSU Women’s Basketball
Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay concludes the non-conference portion of its schedule when it meets UAB in a 2:00pm, Sunday contest at Bartow Arena.
The Lady Govs will be less than 48 hours removed from a four-day stay in Pittsburgh, PA where they dropped contests to Pittsburgh, Tuesday, and Duquesne, Thursday. In its 62-50 loss at Duquesne, Austin Peay had a first half to forget and a second half they would like to repeat as the season progresses.
The Lady Govs allowed Duquesne to score 41 points in the first half while its own offense struggled, making just eight field goals. However, the second half saw APSU produce an impressive defensive effort, holding the Dukes to 19 field goal attempts (eight made) and grabbing a 24-13 rebounding edge.
