Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsDallas, TX – Seven senior Austin Peay State University football players part of The 2014 National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society, comprised of college football players from all divisions who maintain a 3.2 GPA or better.

Defensive lineman Reese Bulmash, linebacker/fullback Josh Carroll, offensive lineman Kyle Harrison, linebacker Jared Sexton, defensive end Iosua Siliva, offensive tackle Ben Stansfield and offensive tackle Gavin Willisson were chosen.

Meanwhile, on the women’s side a multitalented softball player and a Lady Govs soccer player who brought nationwide attention to her country, herself and APSU earned similar honors Monday night at the annual APSU’s Athletics Banquet, held in the Dunn Center.

Austin Peay State University has 174 student athletes named to Fall honor roll

 

APSU - Austin Peay State University SportsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s 331 student-athletes posted a 2.944 grade-point average during the recently completed Fall 2013 semester, the athletics department announced Tuesday.

The 2.944 cumulative GPA accumulated by the department’s student-athletes was the fourth-best mark in program history. It also is the third consecutive semester the group posted a 2.90 GPA or better.

Dr. Bruce Myers, who was the 2013 APSU National Alumni Association Distinguished Professor Award recipient and who serves as the Faculty Athletic Representative, served as commencement speaker.

APSU Govs old and new help celebrate Governors Stadium

 

APSU - Austin Peay State University SportsClarksville, TN – APSU Governors football players from then and now took part in the ceremonial demolition, Saturday, after Austin Peay State University’s football game with Southeast Missouri.

APSU President Tim Hall and athletics director spoke to a large gathering outside Gate 1 about the memories created in Governors Stadium and the new ones to be made in the upcoming years when the new Governors Stadium opens in 2014.

APSU Football player Ben Stansfield nominated for National Football Foundation Campbell Trophy

 

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUDallas, TX - Austin Peay State University senior offensive tackle Ben Stansfield is one of seven nominees with a perfect 4.0 grade-point for the 2013 National Football Foundation Campbell Trophy, college football’s premier scholar-athlete award.

Stansfield is one of 170 nominees, including 46 from the Football Championship Subdivision, who also comprise the list of semifinalists for the Campbell Trophy.
