APSU Governors Basketball awards scholarship to Zavion Williams

Clarksville, TN - Zavion Williams, a 5-10 point guard who sat out this past basketball season at Austin Peay State University after transferring from Lipscomb, has been awarded a scholarship by the Governors.

Clarksville, TN – Demarius (D.D.) Smith watched his brother, Amius, star on defense for Austin Peay State University’s football team from 2008-11.
Now the younger Smith is hoping to bring that same defensive mindset to the Governors basketball team.

APSU Governors Baseball set for two mid-week contests

Clarksville, TN - Austin Peay wraps up the first half of the 2013 campaign when it hosts Lipscomb in a 6:00pm, Tuesday contest at Raymond C. Hand Park.
The Govs then start the season’s second half when they meet Western Kentucky in a 6:00pm, Wednesday contest in Bowling Green, KY.

Nashville, TN - Austin Peay State University‘s baseball team scored twice in the ninth inning and won a midweek pitcher’s duel, 3-1, against Lipscomb, Wednesday, at Dugan Field.

APSU Governors Baseball faces Indiana State and Lipscomb in mid-week games
Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay begins its final preparations for Ohio Valley Conference play when it hosts Indiana State in a 5:oopm, Tuesday contest before traveling to meet Lipscomb in a 4:00pm, Wednesday affair.
The Govs will conclude what has been a successful 12-game homestand with Tuesday’s contest. Austin Peay then begins a stretch where it will play eight of its next 11 games on the road when it travels to Nashville, Wednesday.

Chattanooga, TN – Austin Peay will attempt to snap a five-game losing streak when it plays High Point in the consolation game of the Dr. Pepper Classic, 3:30pm (CDT), Saturday in McKenzie Arena.
High Point also is amidst a losing streak. Its 68-61 loss to Chattanooga, Friday, was its fourth straight.

Austin Peay Governors Basketball heads to Chattanooga this weekend for the Dr. Pepper Classic

Clarksville, TN – This is the 23rd Annual Dr. Pepper Classic, hosted by Chattanooga. This is the Austin Peay Governors Basketball’s second tourney appearance. The Governors reached the finals of 2000 Classic.
APSU has never played two-Utah Valley and High Point-of the entrants in this year’s tourney. APSU and Chattanooga have played 18 times previously.
