Charleston, IL – Despite a 77-62 loss to Murray State, Thursday night, Eastern Illinois is without question the surprise of the Ohio Valley Conference this season.
The Panthers are 6-1 in the OVC and 12-7 overall, watching a nine-game winning streak snapped against the Racers. As a result, the Panthers slipped behind the unbeaten Racers in the OVC West Standings.

Cookeville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team’s elusive quest for a road victory will take it to Tennessee Tech, 7:30pm, Saturday, at the Hooper Eblen Center in an Ohio Valley Conference matchup of two struggling teams.
The Governors, 5-10 on the season and 0-8 on the road, are coming off a disappointing 71-59 loss to Jacksonville State in their OVC opener.

Brentwood, TN – Dr. Gaines Hunt, longtime Austin Peay State University professor and administrator and APSU’s Athletics Faculty Athletics Representative for more than 15 years, has been named co-recipient of the 2015 Ohio Valley Conference Thurston Banks Award for Distinguished Academic Service.
The award, selected by the OVC Faculty Athletics Representatives (FARs), was established in 2013 to recognize individuals (e.g. academic advisor, professor, tutor, etc.), with at least five years of service at one or more OVC member institutions, for their outstanding contributions to OVC student-athletes’ academic success, learning and development as well for his or her overall commitment to the institution’s athletics program.

Birmingham, AL – After capturing its initial 2014-15 victory against Berea, Sunday, Austin Peay men’s basketball team will seek its first road victory, 7:00pm, Wednesday, at Samford in the Pete Hanna Center.
The Govs opened the season with a 77-70 loss at Western Kentucky, Saturday in their season opener.
The series, which includes an updated primary logo, focused heavily on a new Governor Peay logo along with a fresh word mark heightened by a contemporary font.
“Our brand is not just about the mark,” APSU Athletics Director Derek van der Merwe said. “It’s about defining who we are first and foremost. But we also defined a strategic plan for how we are going to get there.

Clarksville, TN – Justin Dickens has made a few stops in his career in the sports information profession since graduating from Austin Peay State University, including two Super Bowl trips and his current job as associate director of public and media relations for the University of Michigan football team, but traces all of that back to his four years as a student assistant under current Govs Sports Information Director Brad Kirtley.
A 2003 bachelor of science degree in public relations graduate returned to Austin Peay for the first time in five years, October 26th, as he was honored in the Morgan University Center Ballroom as one of the two Outstanding Young Alumnus Award recipients for 2013 by the university.
