Clarksville, TN - Two of the greatest Governors athletes in their respective sports and the department’s longtime sports information director have been selected to Austin Peay State University Athletics Hall of Fame.
In addition, a former superb football/basketball player who paid the ultimate price in defense of his country, was selected to the Hall of Fame as part of it Legends category.
Clarksville, TN – Another busy Thursday is in store for Austin Peay State University athletics, and Clarksville’s radio airwaves will be full of Governor sports action beginning 5:30pm, November 21st.
The Kirby Cannon Show, live from the Gilroy, will hold its usual 6:00pm-7:00pm radio slot this week on WJZM 1400 AM, where Govs football head coach Kirby Cannon and host Brian Rives will discuss last week’s final home game at Governors Stadium as presently constructed and look forward to Saturday’s season-finale at Tennessee Tech.

Except it will also be the final event in what most current Austin Peay fans know as Governors Stadium and with the ending of that era the university is working to have a large number of alumni return to bid the 67-year old venue adieu.

Clarksville, TN – Justin Dickens has made a few stops in his career in the sports information profession since graduating from Austin Peay State University, including two Super Bowl trips and his current job as associate director of public and media relations for the University of Michigan football team, but traces all of that back to his four years as a student assistant under current Govs Sports Information Director Brad Kirtley.
A 2003 bachelor of science degree in public relations graduate returned to Austin Peay for the first time in five years, October 26th, as he was honored in the Morgan University Center Ballroom as one of the two Outstanding Young Alumnus Award recipients for 2013 by the university.
Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University Baseball head coach Gary McClure is a candidate for the University of Iowa baseball programs head coaching job.
According to Clarksville Online sources, McClure interviewed for the position last week.

Jonesboro, AR – After week off for finals its back to the business of basketball for Austin Peay State University. The Govs will hit the road to face Arkansas State, 2:00pm, Sunday December 14th in the ASU Convocation Center.
The Governors business begins and ends with taking care of the basketball. APSU committed 28 turnovers in its 83-65 loss to Memphis-it was the third time this season the Govs committed 20 or more turnovers.
