Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce DevelopmentNashville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and Department of Labor and Workforce Development Commissioner Burns Phillips today announced that Tennessee’s statewide unemployment rate for April was 3.4 percent, the third consecutive month the rate has held steady.

The seasonally adjusted rate represents 0.6 of a percentage point decrease in unemployment compared to the same time period in 2017.

Tennessee Unemployment Rate Remains Near Historic Lows, Holds Steady From February

 

Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce DevelopmentNashville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and Department of Labor and Workforce Development Commissioner Burns Phillips announced the March 2018 statewide unemployment rate for Tennessee remained near historic lows and matched the revised rate from the previous month.

The preliminary, seasonally adjusted rate for March was 3.4 percent, which mirrored the revised rate for February and was nearly one percentage point less than the March 2017 rate of 4.2 percent.

Tennessee Statewide Unemployment Rate Remains Near Historic Low Levels

 

Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce DevelopmentNashville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and Department of Labor and Workforce Development Commissioner Burns Phillips today announced statewide unemployment remained near historic low levels in February with the preliminary rate at 3.4 percent.

February’s rate is up just 0.1 of a percentage point from January’s revised rate of 3.3 percent. Over the past 12 months, Tennessee’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased a full percentage point from 4.4 percent to 3.4 percent and remains less than the national average of 4.1 percent.

Tennessee Begins 2018 with County Unemployment Rates Lower than January 2017

 

Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce DevelopmentNashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD) have released county unemployment statistics for January 2018.  A vast majority of the state’s 95 counties continue to record unemployment rates under 5 percent and every county’s rate was lower than it was in January 2017.

Montgomery County’s unemployment rate was 4.0 percent, up 0.6 percent from December’s 3.4 percent.

Unemployment in Clarksville-Montgomery County dropped from 3.8 percent in November to 3.4 percent in December and is down 1.9 percent from December 2016’s unemployment rate of 5.3 percent.
