Yet, the thrill of fireworks can also bring pain. 200 people on average go the emergency room every day with fireworks-related injuries in the month around the July 4th holiday.

Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office highlights Burn Awareness Week

 

Safety effort includes Tips on Preventing Scalds

Tennessee State Fire MarshalNashville, TN – It’s National Burn Awareness Week, and the State Fire Marshal’s Office is joining the American Burn Association to promote this year’s scald prevention theme.

“Although anyone can sustain a scald burn, certain people are more likely to be scalded – infants, young children, older adults and people with disabilities. These high-risk groups are also more likely to require hospitalization, suffer complications and experience a difficult recovery,” says State Fire Marshal and Commerce & Insurance Commissioner Julie Mix McPeak. “Most burn injuries occur in the person’s own home, and the vast majority of these injuries can be prevented.” «Read the rest of this article»

Montgomery Central and Northwest got wins Friday Night at the Tennessee District 9 Ten Year Old Little League Baseball Tournament

Montgomery Central Little League is hosting the District 9 Ten Year Old baseball tournament.

Little League BaseballCunningham, TN – In Little League action at Montgomery Central Elementary School, Montgomery Central behind three hits from Seth Ratliff beat Burns 17-7. Jace McWhorter, Austin Brown and Bo Perry added two hits apiece. Luke Jenkins had a triple and a double for Burns.

Northwest beat South Cheatham #1 with winning pitcher Gabe Sibert, Kyle Bradford and Zak Kramer contributing two hits. Maverick Rodriquez and Jack King had a triple and double for South Cheatham #1. «Read the rest of this article»

Montgomery Central Little League is hosting the District 9 Ten Year Old baseball tournament.

Little League BaseballCunningham, TN – Little League action continued at Montgomery Central Elementary School as Northwest beat South Cheatham #2 16-0 Thursday night. Gabo Sibert and Takeo Chaney combined to no-hit South Cheatham and came within one walk of a perfect game.

Cunningham, TN – Burns beat Clarksville National White 16-6.  Garrett Wright and Bryce Erranton had three hits each to lead Burns

St. Bethlehem, Stewart County, Clarksville National Blue, and Woodlawn got wins Tuesday Night at the Tennessee District 9 Ten Year Old Little League Baseball Tournament

Montgomery Central Little League is hosting the District 9 Ten Year Old baseball tournament.

Little League BaseballCunningham, TN – Stewart County defeated Clarksville National White 15-5. Brandon Carrol was the winning pitcher. Carrol  and Joe Thomason both hit a triple and a double during the contest.

Clarksville National Blue survived against Northwest in a pitcher’s duel 3-2. Gavin Hams stuck out 11 for Clarksville National Blue, while Aaron Derrheart and Gabe Sibert combined to strike out 12 for Northwest.

Clarksville National Blue, Stewart County, and St. Bethlehem pick up wins in the Tennessee District 9 Ten Year Old Little League Baseball Tournament

Montgomery Central Little League is hosting the District 9 Ten Year Old baseball tournament.

Little League BaseballCunningham, TN – On Monday night, Stewart County led off with two hits as they went on to defeated the South Cheatham #2 team 17-1.

Clarksville National Blue defeated Burns 23-5. Lance Owen picked up the win and added two singles and a double at the plate.

St. Bethlehem beat Dickson County 13-3. Mathew Miraglia was the winning pitcher for St. Bethlehem while both Dawson Danner and Trent Woodfold hit home runs. «Read the rest of this article»
