Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – A welcome home ceremony was held for returning Soldiers from both the 3rd Brigade Combat Team “Rakkasans,” and the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), at Fort Campbell, KY, on Saturday, May 18th at 2:50am at the Campbell Army Airfield.

Around 290 Soldiers were recognized for their completion of their deployment to Afghanistan and a job well done.

Fort Campbell Rakkasans return home, reunite with family

Fort Campbell, KY – Approximately 240 soldiers from various companies and battalions of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team “Rakkasans,” 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) returned home from a deployment to Afghanistan and were recognized with a welcome home ceremony March 27th at the Campbell Army Airfield.

Welcome home ceremonies are very unique events because they provide the first opportunity for soldiers and family members to reunite after long periods of separation that result from deployments.

Spc. Robert Fay Jr., an infantryman from Company D, 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team "Rakkasans," 101st Airborne Division, reunites with his father, Robert Fay, a former Rakkasan, March 27 at a welcome home ceremony at Fort Campbell, Ky. Although not at the ceremony, Fay's grandfather is also a former Rakkasan, and the three generations of the Fay family have served the elite 187th Infantry Regiment in several wars dating back to the beginning of its history. Fort Campbell hosts U.S. Air Force 919th Special Operations Wing during Hurricane Isaac

 

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – Just like its largest tenant the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), the service members and civilians at Fort Campbell adapt quickly to various situations on a daily basis.

This week the installation adapted to come to the aid of eight MC-130E Combat Talon I aircraft from the Air Force Reserve’s 711th Special Operations Squadron, 919th Special Operations Wing from Duke Field, FL. The 919th SOW moved the aircraft here for safety during the severe weather created by Hurricane Isaac.

The 2012 Week of the Eagles Super Saturday Air Show was a real crowd pleaser

 

Fort Campbell, KYFort Campbell's Week of the EaglesFort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionFor many people the highlight of the Week of the Eagles has got to be the Fort Campbell Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation and Veterans of Foreign Wars Air Show. This aerial extravaganza event drew over 40,000 attendees to Campbell Army Airfield on Saturday.

Things kicked off with the opening ceremonies which consisted of the posting of the colors, and a welcome from Maj. Gen. James C. McConville, the Commanding General of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and Fort Campbell, KY; followed by the National Anthem; and performances from the Liberty Jump Team and the 101st Airborne Parachute Demonstration Team, Army’s oldest Parachute Demonstration team

New Outlaw Field Terminal Now Open

 

Clarksville-Montgomery County Regional Airport Authority

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Regional Airport Authority held a grand opening for the new 16,000 ft.² terminal building at Outlaw Field on Monday, July 9th, 2012. City, county and state leaders were in attendance as the new airport manager John Patterson led the ceremony that opened the newly constructed terminal building to the public.

The building is very modern but has an elegant décor, a large number of windows and high ceilings make the terminal airy with great lighting. A absolutely gorgeous Beechcraft Model 17 Staggerwing airplane dominates the ceiling on the second floor. There are two conference rooms one which seats 10 people, and another which can seat over 100; both feature top-of-the-line telecommunications technology. These rooms can be used for meetings and parties, complete with catering services. There are also four commercial spaces intended for lease.

“I would like to encourage the community groups, schools, and churches to come outa and take tours of their airport,” said Patterson.

77 Soldiers from the 372nd Transportation Company welcomed home on Sunday

 

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – Early Sunday morning 77 soldiers from the 372nd Transportation Company part of the 101st Sustainment Brigade “Lifeliners”returned home from a deployment to Iraq in support of Operation New Dawn.

The soldier’s families had gathered at Campbell Army Airfield to see their loved ones arrive back home. The aircraft touched down at 4:00am to the enthusiastic cheers from those who were waiting for the flight.

167 Soldiers with the 326th Engineer Battalion Returned From Iraq Tuesday Night

 

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – Late on Tuesday night 167 soldiers with the 326th Engineer Battalion returned to Fort Campbell after a year long deployment to Irag.

Family and friends gathered inside Hanger 3 at Campbell Army Airfield as they awaited the return of their loved ones.  When the plane was 15 minutes away an announcement was made, and  most of the familiy members made their way outside to watch as plane touched down.

194 Lifeliners returned to Fort Campbell on Thursday

 

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – On Thursday in what became the flight that never ended 194 soldiers from 101st Sustainment Brigade “Lifeliners”returned home from a 12-month deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

The soldier’s families had gathered at Campbell Army Airfield  to see their loved ones arrive back home. They were expecting the flight to arrive at 6:25pm, however the aircraft finally touched down at 9:00pm to the enthusiastic cheers from those who were waiting for the flight.

200 soldiers return home from Afghanistan

 

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – Yesterday afternoon, Fort Campbell welcomed home 200 soldiers from the 584th Ordnance Maintenance Company along with part of 101st Special Troops Battalion “Sustainers”. They were returning home from a 12-month deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom where their mission was to provide field maintenance within Regional Command-East as part of the 142nd Combat Sustainment Support Battalion.

The 584th Ordnance Maintenance Companymade headlines during their deployment for use of the Joint Recovery And Distribution System (JRADS) to recover a downed Apache helicopter; they had previously conducted missions to recover a bulldozer, a wrecker, and a mine resistance ambush protected vehicle. They also helped to set up a support center for host nation truck drivers in the Convoy Staging Yard at Bagram Airfield, as well as took part in humanitarian assistance missions.
