UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN No. 6/7 Tennessee (16-1, 4-1 SEC) makes one final stop on a challenging three-game road swing with a Thursday night, January 18th visit to Purcell Pavilion at the Joyce Center to take on No. 5/5 Notre Dame (16-2, 5-1 ACC). The Lady Vols’ final regular-season non-conference contest is slated to tip at 6:02pm CT.

This marks the 28th meeting between these schools in women’s basketball, with UT holding a 21-6 advantage. The Lady Vols will try to halt a three-game road losing skid in the series and end a 17-game homecourt winning streak by the Irish. A year ago, Tennessee ended a six-game Notre Dame series win streak, defeating the (then) No. 6/6 Fighting Irish, 71-69, at Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville on a last second jumper by Jaime Nared.

#7 Tennessee Lady Vols head to Kentucky to take on the Wildcats

UT Lady VolsLexington, KY – No. 7/7 Tennessee (12-0) opens SEC play on the road, facing Kentucky (8-6) at Rupp Arena in Lexington on Sunday. Tip-off is slated for 11:02am CT.

This will mark UT’s third straight road affair, with the Big Orange winning at Long Beach State (90-61) and at #18/24 Stanford (83-71) on December 17th and 21st, respectively.

The Lady Vols will be aiming to go 13-0 for only the fifth occasion in school history and for the first time during the Holly Warlick era.

Tennessee Lady Vols get 83-71 win at Stanford

UT Lady VolsStanford, CA – Senior Jaime Nared posted a 28-point effort to lead the No. 7 Lady Vols to an 83-71 victory on the road against No. 18 Stanford (6-6). The win improved Tennessee to 12-0 on the season and broke a five-game Tennessee losing streak at Maples Pavilion dating back to December 4th, 2005. That season also marked the last time UT opened a season with 12 straight wins.
 
Senior Mercedes Russell contributed a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds on the night, while freshman Evina Westbrook posted a career high of 17 points. In addition to a season-high 28 points, Nared also posted a career-best seven steals.

UT Lady VolsStanford, CA – No. 7/7 Tennessee (11-0) is in the midst of an eight-day West Coast trip, concluding it on Thursday evening vs. No. 18/24 Stanford (6-5) at Maples Pavilion. Tip time is 6:00pm PT (8:00pm CT).  

UT will be looking to snap a five-game venue losing streak at Maples, last winning on Stanford’s home court on December 4th, 2005. The Lady Vols will be aiming to go 12-0 for only the fifth occasion in school history and for the first time during the Holly Warlick era.

The last time Tennessee began a season 12-0, the Lady Vols extended the streak to 18 games before finally falling during the 2005-06 season en route to a 31-5 overall record. Incidentally, that was the last time UT beat the Cardinal in Maples.

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – No. 7/7 Tennessee (10-0) is in the midst of an eight-day West Coast trip, beginning with a Sunday contest vs. Long Beach State (2-7) at Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, CA. Tip time is slated for 2:00pm PT (4:00pm CT).

The Lady Vols returned to the top 10 in both the AP and USA TODAY Coaches Polls this week, rising to No. 7/7 from No. 11/13 last week after knocking off No. 2/4 Texas last Sunday in Knoxville, 82-75.

The Big Orange women are back in the top 10 for the first time since the third poll of the 2015-16 season, when the Lady Vols were rated No. 4/5 on November 23rd. The triumph over Texas was Tennessee’s seventh at home this season and ninth in a row at Thompson-Boling Arena after closing out the 2016-17 with a pair of victories on the Summitt.

Tennessee Lady Vols Basketball takes down #10 Stanford, 59-51

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN The Lady Vols picked up their first top-10 win of the season, as they defeated No. 10 Stanford, 59-51, at Thompson-Boling Arena on Sunday.

With 9,137 people in attendance, head coach Holly Warlick earned the 1,000th win of her coaching career on Sunday. The Lady Vols improved to 24-10 all time against Stanford and 13-2 when playing at home.

Tennessee (6-4) played stellar defense in the game, forcing 18 turnovers, getting nine steals, blocking five shots and grabbing 27 defensive boards to avoid second chances by the Cardinal (8-2).

Tennessee Lady Vols Basketball announces Non-Conference Schedule

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – Notre Dame, Baylor, Texas and Stanford headline a stout non-conference Tennessee women’s basketball schedule that was released on Monday by fifth-year Lady Vol Head Coach Holly Warlick (108-34, .761).

Tip times and television network assignments will be available at a later date when that information is approved for release.

UT, which returns four starters from a team that finished 22-14 and rallied for the program’s fourth NCAA Elite Eight appearance in five seasons, is ranked No. 11 in Charlie Creme’s ESPN.com “Way-Too-Early Preseason top 25”. The Lady Vols welcome back their top scorer in redshirt junior guard Diamond DeShields (14.3 ppg.) and top rebounder in redshirt junior center Mercedes Russell (8.3 rpg.).

UT Lady Vols Basketball’s late rally falls short in 69-55 loss to Stanford

UT Lady VolsStanford, CA – Jaime Nared and Bashaara Graves combined for 20 fourth-quarter points and nearly led No. 14/16 Tennessee back from a 21-point deficit before the Lady Vols fell to No. 15/14 Stanford, 69-55, on Wednesday night at Maples Pavilion.

Nared, who made her season debut on Wednesday, scored all 12 of her points in the fourth quarter and also had three rebounds. Graves scored eight of her 10 points in the fourth quarter and ignited the late Tennessee (7-3) surge. She also had five rebounds and three assists and went 6-of-7 from the free-throw line.
