Nashville, TN – The second of the season’s youth hunts, scheduled for January 12th-13th, will conclude the 2012-13 deer hunting season in Tennessee.
Youth, ages 6-16 years of age may participate. The young sportsmen must be accompanied by a non-hunting adult at least 21 years of age who must remain in a position to take control of the hunting device.

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency reports funding available to improve Livestock Forage for Wildlife Habitat

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has been informed that the Tennessee’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has recently received $778,044 in additional funding to help crop and livestock producers through the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP).
Producers in areas designated as either D3 Drought, Extreme or D4 Drought exceptional on the recent July 2012 U.S. Drought Monitor maps for Tennessee are eligible to apply for selected conservation practices. Tennessee Wildlife Resoureces Agency reports 2012 Gun Season for Deer Underway

Nashville, TN – Tennessee sportsmen harvested more than 17,000 deer statewide on the opening weekend of gun season for deer as harvest numbers continue to be reported.
The 17,093 reported as of noon (CST) on Monday surpasses the 2011 total of 14,463 over the same time frame in 2011.

Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission approves 2013-2014 Fishing Regulations

Tiptonville, TN – The Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission approved the 2013-14 fishing regulations at its October meeting which concluded Friday afternoon and was held near Reelfoot State Park.
Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency officials made the original recommendations at the TFWC’s August meeting in Nashville.
Next year’s regulations changes include umbrella/Alabama rigs, skipjack herring, wild trout streams, walleye on Cherokee Reservoir, and bass on Pickwick, Parksville and Cordell Hull reservoirs. Peregrine Falcon captured in Tennessee

Nashville, TN – The first Peregrine falcon has been trapped in Tennessee in more than 50 years on the banks of the Mississippi River by a Carroll County resident. Tennessee was awarded one permit by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service allowing the trapping of one Peregrine falcon for the use in falconry beginning in 2011 in selected West Tennessee counties.
Brian Brown, of Clarksburg, made the historic capture on a Friday afternoon at around 2:30pm. He used a Dho-ghazza net and lured the Peregrine he has named “Belle.” He brought the bird to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency in Nashville for the proper processing.

Tennessee Department of Agriculture Issues Burn Ban for Montgomery County and Sixteen other Counties

Prohibition Applies to All Open-Air Burning, Other Tennessee Counties Expected
Nashville, TN – Tennessee Agriculture Commissioner Julius Johnson has issued a burn ban for Carroll, Cheatham, Crockett, Dickson, Fentress, Gibson, Giles, Henderson, Marshall, Maury, Montgomery, Overton, Rutherford, Sevier, Sumner, Williamson and Wilson Counties. The burn ban is effective immediately and will remain in place until further notice.

Montgomery County, TN – The National Weather Service has a tornado watch 7 in effect until 6:00am cst for the Clarksville Montgomery County Area.
A significant severe weather outbreak is possible in Middle Tennessee tonight and conditions will favor the development of isolated tornadoes. Vigilance is advised overnight.
Early tonight, a line of thunderstorms, some severe, was pushing across Eastern Arkansas. The National Weather Service in Little Rock, Arkansas issued tornado warnings for several of these storms and damage to houses and trees reportedly occurred near the town of Fordyce, Arkansas. «Read the rest of this article»
