Knoxville, TN – Notre Dame, Baylor, Texas and Stanford headline a stout non-conference Tennessee women’s basketball schedule that was released on Monday by fifth-year Lady Vol Head Coach Holly Warlick (108-34, .761).
Tip times and television network assignments will be available at a later date when that information is approved for release.
UT, which returns four starters from a team that finished 22-14 and rallied for the program’s fourth NCAA Elite Eight appearance in five seasons, is ranked No. 11 in Charlie Creme’s ESPN.com “Way-Too-Early Preseason top 25”. The Lady Vols welcome back their top scorer in redshirt junior guard Diamond DeShields (14.3 ppg.) and top rebounder in redshirt junior center Mercedes Russell (8.3 rpg.).

Sevierville, TN – Coming off its best performance this season, Austin Peay State University men’s golf team hopes to build off that momentum when it plays in the Fourth Annual Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate, being held, Sunday-Tuesday, at the Sevierville Golf Club River Course.
This is Austin Peay’s first time to play in the event named after the late Tennessee Tech golf coach and former pro golfer.
Knoxville, TN – The Tennessee Lady Vols held a media session and open practice period Wednesday in advance of Friday’s season opener vs. Penn.
No. 4/4 UT and the Quakers will meet at Thompson-Boling Arena in a contest slated to tip at 7:00pm ET and be streamed live by SEC Network+.
The contest will be the first between the two programs and only Tennessee’s second vs. a school from the Ivy League. The Lady Vols, who were ranked No. 1 at the time, toppled Princeton, 107-39, on December 20th, 2005, in their only other meeting with an Ivy program.
Austin Peay State University punter Ben Campbell is a prime example of that premise, with an injury to a teammate in high school leading to a record-breaking career for the Governors.
Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University head coach Gary McClure announced Derrick Dunbar has been elevated to a full-time assistant coach and Greg Bachman will join his staff as a volunteer assistant coach, both effective August 1st.
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville High School golfer Sam Davis became the second player from this year’s District 10-AAA boys championship team to sign to play college golf next year, as he cast his lot with Carson Newman College in a ceremony in the school’s cafeteria April 16th.
Davis joins Hunter Richardson, who signed with Tennessee Martin in the fall signing period.
“Sam is our second player to sign this year,” Clarksville High coach Adam Welch said. “I’m tickled about Sam signing and anytime you’re going to a program that is winning their conference title and going to the NCAA tournament — becoming a part of those type teams — is a great accomplishment.”
Knoxville, TN – After the Southeastern Conference Office unveiled this year’s league schedule on Tuesday, Tennessee Head Women’s Basketball Coach Holly Warlick announced her team’s 2013-14 slate. UT also revealed it will retire Candace Parker’s jersey on January 2nd prior to the LSU game.
The defending SEC champion Lady Volunteers, who were 27-8 in 2012-13 and advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight, will play 18 regular-season games vs. teams that saw postseason action a year ago. That group includes 11 teams that made the NCAA Tournament and five that played in the Women’s National Invitation Tournament.
