APSU to host parade honoring the first 100 days of Obama’s Administration

Austin Peay State University LogoThe Austin Peay State University Center of Excellence for Creative Arts is working on a project to celebrate President Obama’s first 100 days in office. They have created 100 T-Shirts with his inaugural speech on it and are looking for people to wear them. On April 30th, at 1pm, those wearing the T-Shirts along with other supporters will walk through the parts of Clarksville by APSU and end up at the Browning Building on campus. They will recite the inaugural speech at the end of the parade.They are looking for volunteers to wear the shirts. Please let them know if you are able to assist in this parade. The Austin Peay State University Department of Music and the Center of Excellence for Creative Arts continues its Clarksville Community Concert Association’s 2008-09 Concert Series with a performance by the acclaimed Imani Winds.

Imani Winds coming to APSU

Imani Winds will perform at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 23, in the Music/Mass Communication Building Concert Hall. Since 1997, this Grammy-nominated wind quintet has taken a unique path, carving out a distinct presence in the classical music world with its dynamic playing, culturally poignant programming, genre-blurring collaborations and inspirational outreach programs. With two-member composers and a deep commitment to commissioning new work, the group is enriching the traditional wind quintet repertoire while meaningfully bridging European, American, African and Latin American traditions. «Read the rest of this article»
