Austin Peay State University LogoThe summer session will begin June 1 and end July 10. Programs will be offered in both music and visual arts.

The music program will feature Individual Music Instruction, Class Voice and Drum Circle; also scheduled is the annual APSU Piano Week, June 15-19.

All music programs are scheduled in the Music/Mass Communication Building.

Community School of the Arts lists Spring class schedule

Austin Peay State University announces the schedule of classes for the Spring 2009 Community School of the Arts.

The Community School of the Arts teaches a variety of music and visual arts classes to children and adults. The spring term begins Tuesday, Jan. 20 and ends on Saturday, May 2.

The dates for preregistration for returning students is Nov. 24 – Dec. 5. Open registration for new students begins Dec. 8. All classes begin during the week of Jan. 20 unless otherwise stated in the class description. Late registration will be accepted.

Music classes are scheduled to take place in the Music/Mass Communication Building on APSU’s main campus. Available classes are listed below along with course descriptions.

INDIVIDUAL MUSIC LESSONS give students one-on-one instruction for 30 minutes each week on the bassoon, cello, clarinet, flute, guitar, horn, oboe, piano, saxophone, trombone, trumpet, tuba/euphonium, violin/fiddle or voice.  Lessons take place weekday afternoons and evenings. Silke’s “Evening with the Artists:” A warm and cozy house party

Viewing new artwork at Silke'sNot your typical house party, mind you, but a warm and cozy coffeehouse atmosphere that celebrated new artworks, friendship and great food. The viewing was fluid and inspiring as viewers discovered new delights from front to rear and back again.

Viewing the artworkSaturday evening saw Clarksville’s own Silke’s Old World Breads open for a special occasion — its bi-monthly artwork installation known as ‘An evening with the Artists.”

This evening of free-roaming art viewing and appreciation was accompanied with a buffet of Silke’s equally impressive and absolutely scrumptious food. This evening of art appreciation welcomes all art lovers. On Saturday night, that meant “standing room only.” «Read the rest of this article»
