Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Junior sprinter Kymmalett Ross, of the Austin Peay State University track and field team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

In Austin Peay’s first weekend of indoor competition, Ross stood out by winning 55m and 200m dashes at the MT Christmas Invitational, Saturday, setting personal-bests in both events with a 7.12 in the 55 and a 24.63 in the 200 – the latter being a tenth of a second behind the school record. She also contributed to Austin Peay’s 3:52.52 mark in the 4x400m relay in Murfreesboro, where the Lady Govs came in second to the host Blue Raiders. «Read the rest of this article»

But that was one of the few things that went right for the Governors against Southern Illinois as the home team rolled to a 71-49 non-conference victory.

APSU Governors Basketball loses to Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks in Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSULas Vegas, NV – Stephen F. Austin advanced to the third round of last March’s NCAA basketball tournament. Austin Peay State University found out why Friday.

The Lumberjacks, who return most of their players from a 32-winn 2013-14 team, shot 63 percent from the floor while limiting the Governors to only 42 percent shooting as APSU fell 83-62 in the upper division title game of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational.

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSULas Vegas, NV – Austin Peay State University’s basketball team scored a season-high 79 points but that was the last thing anyone was talking about as the Govs snapped a three-game losing streak with a 79-58 Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational victory, Thursday morning, against Brown in the Orleans Arena.

No, it was the other end of the floor—the defensive end—that saw the Govs erase a five-point halftime deficit in outscoring Brown 46-20 in the final half.

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Sophomore center Tearra Banks, of the Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Banks averaged 20.5 points and 8.0 rebounds for Austin Peay against Grand Canyon and Chattanooga, leading the Lady Govs to their season’s first victory Saturday against the Antelopes. From the floor, Banks hit 17-for-32 (53.1 percent) in the two contests.
