Local woman to represent Fort Campbell in Operation Rising Star

Thea Agnew was selected to represent Fort Campbell in the 2009 Operation Rising Star CompetitionOperation Rising Star is an American Idol style singing competition which is hosted by the United States Army Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Command (MWR),  and Army Entertainment. The Semi-finals will be  held at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, from November 9th-21st.

Towards the end of October, the twelve semi-finalists for this years competition were announced. The semi-finalists were selected based on a combined score from a panel of ten professional judges who reviewed the Winners performances via video.

Draughons Junior College hosting Fall Festival, Vendors needed for Dec. Craft Fair

draughonsDraughons Junior College will be hosting it’s forth annual Fall Festival on Friday October 30th from 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM.

Activities include:  Safe trick or treating, mad scientist lab, haunted house, spooky story time, finger printing, refreshments, costume and pumpkin decorating contest.  The first 300 children will receive a hard backed book and pumpkin to take home with them.  This event is sponsored by:  Clarksville Police Department, Verizon, Cheeseburger Charley’s, Governor’s Square Mall, L & L Pizza, Guadalajara Mexican Grill, Beach Oil Company, TN National Guard, Ace Pipe & Supply, Dairy Queen, Food Lion, Clarksville Chamber of Commerce and Planet Smoothie. «Read the rest of this article»

The Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Clarksville and the CDE sponsored a public forum at the CDE building in Clarksville on July 15, with Democratic Tennessee Senate District 22 candidates Tim Barnes and incumbent Senator Rosalind Kurita fielding questions about policy and platforms. The primary race will be held August 7.

Chamber, Career Center co-sponsor job fair

Clarksville area job seekers are invited to take part in one of the area’s largest career fairs at Veterans Plaza Friday, April 25, 2008. The event will feature more than 65 employers and will be set up along the covered walkways in Veterans Plaza. The career fair will feature music, food and prizes.

The theme of this year’s career fair is “A Career in Full Bloom” sponsored by the Tennessee Career Center at Clarksville and the Clarksville Chamber of Commerce. Last year the event drew more than 1,700 job seekers with 59 employers participating.

More than 60 employers will be at the fair this year including Austin Peay, Averitt Express, Federal Bureau of Investigations, Tenn. Dept. of Corrections, Convergys, Goodwill, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department, Regions Bank, UPS and Quebecor World. Bring a resume and dress to impress these employers who are actively recruiting and want an opportunity to meet and interview the area’s most qualified job seekers. «Read the rest of this article»
