Local fund raiser highlighted by enthusiastic crowd and lively speakers. Montgomery County Democratic Party partners with Clarksville for Obama to stage the event. Democratic State Senate District 22 nominee Tim Barnes shares in event spotlight.

Clarksville for Obama, with an assist from the Montgomery County Democratic Party, held a fund raiser Thursday night at the IAM Local # 129 Union Hall on 1296 Union Hall Rd.
U.S. Senate Candidate Bob Tuke and Senate District 22 candidate Tim Barnes were among the guest speakers, a roster that included candidates for state and national offices on the November ballot, and representatives of both the Democratic Party and Labor Unions. Approximately 155 people attended the event.
Gene Lewis, MCDP chair, stood in for Kim McMiillan, who was unable to attend, as moderator for the event. He introduced each of the program’s speakers to address the gathering.

Bob Tuke (center, left), candidate for 7th US Senate District, commended Clarksville for Obama and the Montgomery County Democratic Party. He praised the county for its strong Democratic Party tradition. He additionally hailed State Senate District 22 nominee Tim Barnes.
Tuke then cited Senator Barack Obama as a “great candidate” and declared he would make a fantastic president. He declared the current financial crisis, “is not an accident, it isn’t cyclic. It’s the result of mismanagement.” He noted that “President Obama” will need a supportive Senate and that means having at least sixty democratic votes in the Senate. «Read the rest of this article»

The Montgomery County Democratic Party in Partnership with Clarksville For Obama will host a Campaign Fundraiser and Rally for Barack Obama on Thursday, September 18, at 5:30 p.m. at Machinists Union Hall Building, 121 Union Hall Road, Clarksville (behind the Wyatt Johnson car dealership on Wilma Rudolph Blvd).
Special guests include Kim McMillan, Former Majority Leader, Tennessee House of Representatives; Joe Pitts, Tennessee State Representative (District 67); Jerry Martin, State Campaign Director for Barack Obama; Wade Mundy, Communications Director, Tennessee State Democratic Party; and Jerry Lee, Tennessee AFL-CIO Union President.

The Montgomery County Democratic Party, in partnership with Clarksville For Obama, will host a Democratic Convention Watch Party on August 28, 2008 at the Montgomery County Democratic Party headquarters building, 534 Madison Street (on the corner of University and Madison street) starting at 7:00 p.m.

Clarksville-Montgomery County will join the millions of people watching across the country and around the world as Democratic Party Presidential nominee Barack Obama officially accepts the nomination. Along with the hundreds of Montgomery County supporters scheduled to attend this watch party, another 75,000 supporters will be packed into the INVESCO Field at Mile High, the 76,125-seat stadium that is home to the Denver Broncos football team, for a huge, free, open-air event where Barack Obama will deliver his acceptance speech to the American people. «Read the rest of this article»

The Montgomery County Democratic party will host a “Democratic Convention Watch Party” on Thursday, August 28 at MCDP headquarters, 534 Madison Street (on the corner of University and Madison street) at 7 p.m.
The public is invited to join the MCDP and Clarksville for Obama in watching Senator Barack Obama accept the nomination as the Democratic candidate for the position of President of the United States of America. This year’s convention is a piece of American history in the making.
The Democratic Party office is now open from 2-5 in the afternoon, and will “hit the ground running” with full time hours as the convention ends, according to MCDP Chairman Gene Lewis.

Every four years, the Democratic Party assembles a “platform” that outlines the party’s position on a variety of issues. Traditionally, the platform is written by paid professionals and then presented to the American people. This year, that’s going to change.

On July 24 at the GET Some Coffee Shop 3862 Trenton Rd., starting at 7:00 p.m., Clarksville For Obama will join people all across America will hold Platform Meetings in their own communities. From Atlanta, Georgia to Muncie, Indiana, from Bangor, Maine to Eugene, Oregon, Americans will meet to talk about what issues are most important to them and what should be at the heart of the Democratic platform for change.

Clarksville For Obama, a grassroots group made up of volunteers working together in unity to aide in the efforts of ensuring that U.S. Senator Barack Obama is sworn in next January as the next President of the United States of America, recently launched its website.
This site has already received national and state attention and recognition for excellence from the Democratic Party communications leaders. David W. Shelton, who designed the site, wanted to make sure the community of Clarksville and its military uniqueness was showcased throughout the site so that Clarksville-area voters would feel more like a part of this campaign.
Each section of the website includes local-interest information and provides a master link to the Obama for America national website. “Clarksville for Obama” will meet July 10 at Get Some Coffee Shop, 3862 Trenton Road #C, in Clarksville at 7 p.m.
The organizers of Clarksville for Obama wish to thank those who attended the “Unite for Change” event at Lassaters Coffee & Tea on June 27. It was great to see so many new people who want to get involved with this campaign. This is a different kind of campaign, with a 50-state strategy; Barack Obama is relying on you to build a grassroots movement to support this campaign. Also, special thanks to Lassaters Coffee & Tea for allowing us to meet at their business.
