Clarksville Agencies prepare for expected cold snap

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – With temperature expected to plunge into the 20s Saturday night, social service agencies are focusing on emergency shelter for people in need.

Manna Café Ministries and New Providence United Methodist Church have partnered to open an emergency warming center at 1317 Fort Campbell Boulevard. The shelter will open at 4:00pm Saturday and remain open until Tuesday morning.

Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan forms Opioid Task Force

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan is forming an Opioid Task Force to help the City develop a coordinated local response to the opioid crisis gripping America.

The Mayor’s Opioid Task Force is charged with advising the Mayor of Clarksville on a coordinated plan to reduce opioid abuse, dependence and overdose in Clarksville and to draft a report of findings and recommendations for action.

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – As of noon today, all of the City of Clarskville’s major roads should be cleared. The Street Department is now able to focus on the residential areas and they should be cleared by tomorrow afternoon.

In addition to every available piece of equipment the City had on hand, four additional road graders were rented to help clear the ice and snow.

Education legislation in support of military dependents to be heard in Education Sub Committee

Tennessee State Representative - District 67Nashville, TN – Six students and two staff members with the Mayor’s Youth Council visited the Tennessee State Capitol last week.

“These student leaders are to be commended for making the time to visit the capitol,” State Representative Joe Pitts (D-Clarksville) said.  “I always look forward to constituents, especially students, visiting the State Capitol,” Pitts said.
