Montgomery County to hold Public Forum on Environmental Sustainability Plan, May 24th

 

Montgomery County TennesseeMontgomery County, TN – On Tuesday, May 24th, the public is invited to share their ideas on sustainability at a public forum, at William O. Beach Civic Hall, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

Members of the Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Task Force, a subsidiary of the Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification Program, are in the process of creating a community Environmental Sustainability Plan and need public input.

Chartwells at Austin Peay State University recognized as green certified by Clarksville-Montgomery County

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Chartwells, the official food service provider of Austin Peay State University, was recently recognized by Clarksville-Montgomery County for meeting all the requirements for its Green Certification program.

Launched in March 2011, Green Certification is designed to help businesses learn and implement best practices in the area of environmental stewardship in an effort to sustain our community’s resources through a series of free workshops taught by environmental and other subject area specialists.

Montgomery County Mayor Carolyn Bowers and Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan, were there to congratulate the owner and employees of Riverview Inn for earning the certification.

APSU 9th Street parking lot gets Solar Canopy

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – On sunny afternoons, the electric meter attached to the Austin Peay State University Hemlock Semiconductor Building won’t be breaking any speed records.

That’s because, in addition to the solar panels on the building’s roof, a new solar parking canopy in the neighboring 9th Street parking lot will feed even more of the sun’s energy into the electrical system, keeping utility costs down.

First Class of 2014 Completes Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Workshops

 

Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification ProgramMontgomery County, TN – The first class of 2014 completed the Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification Program (CMCGCP) workshops. The group began in January and concluded a series of three workshops that lasted approximately three hours each in March.

Clarksville Department of Electricity (CDE) becomes Green Certified

 

Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification ProgramMontgomery County, TN – On Monday afternoon, October 7th, Clarksville Department of Electricity (CDE) became the first City Department to earn Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification.

CDE has supported the CMC Green Certification Program since it began in the spring of 2011 when they agreed to give presentations about energy savings as a part of the program’s workshops.

Signs Now of Clarksville becomes Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certified

 

Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification ProgramMontgomery County, TN – Signs Now of Clarksville, celebrated their Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification with a Green Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Thursday, September 19th.

Owner Dick Pryor and his team have worked hard to reduce their environmental impact. Pryor took a few minutes to elaborate on some of the things they are doing.
