Khowst Province, Afghanistan — U.S. Army Soldiers with Security Transition Team, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, “Rakkasans,” 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) train new Afghan Border Police officers in basic rifle marksmanship and weapons maintenance March 2nd, 2013, at Combat Outpost Bowri Tana.

The STT trained Ulmah in a “train the trainer” program.

101st Airborne Division Rakkasan mortarmen train day and night

Khowst Province, Afghanistan – U.S. Army mortarmen with Company C, 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team “Rakkasans,” 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), conduct a live-fire exercise, March 1st, at Combat Outpost Bowri Tana.

The mortar section conducts drills daily to ensure they can be ready to fire quickly when called upon.

101st Airborne Division Couple takes journey through life side-by-side

Khowst Province, Afghanistan – Once David and Lizeth Wakasa exchanged their vows they would set into motion an inseparable journey that would lead them to Afghanistan and eventually the Pentagon.

After they married in August 2008, the Wakasas planned their future together in their small New Jersey apartment. Seeking something more out of life, Lizeth propositioned her husband with a life full of endless possibilities, financial security and the chance to be different by joining the U.S. Army.
