Cancun, Mexico – Austin Peay State University nailed three consecutive three pointers amidst an 11-0 second-half run as the Governors rallied from 12-point deficit to defeat Western Carolina, 72-71, Tuesday afternoon during Mayan Division action of the Triple Crown Cancun Challenge, being played at the Moon Palace Resort.

Austin Peay Governors Basketball faces DePaul next in Triple Crown Cancun Challenge

APSU Sports: Austin Peay Men’s Basketball
Rosemont, IL – Austin Peay State University‘s second trip as part of the Triple Crown Cancun Challenge takes the Governors all the way to Chicago as they face DePaul, 1:00pm, Saturday, in the AllState Arena.
The Governors are coming off a 74-54 road loss at Western Kentucky, Tuesday, in first-round tourney play while DePaul incurred a stunning 71-59 home loss to Gardner-Webb, Thursday. This is the first meeting between the two teams. Both then will leave Sunday for Cancun to complete tourney play.

The Governors are coming off a 75-64 home win against Samford-only the fifth time in Dave Loos’ 23 seasons APSU opened the season at home.

Clarksville, TN – It has been a rare occasion Austin Peay men’s basketball team has opened at home, at least under head coach Dave Loos.
In fact, Friday’s 7:00pm, season opener against Samford in Dave Aaron Arena is only the fifth time in Loos’ 23 season the Governors have opened a season at home. It has been since the 2003-04 season the Governors (Knoxville College) have played at home. It has been since the 1995-96 season since the Govs played a Division I team (Northern Illinois) at home to open the season. Normally the Govs are paying the bills through guarantee games or related tournaments.

Clarksville, TN – It seems just like yesterday Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team was practicing. Well, not exactly.
However, it was just two months ago the Governors were preparing for its Toronto exhibition series. Now they will be back on the floor officially, 5:00pm, Friday, in the Foy Center when practice begins for the 2012-13 season.

Toronto, Canada – For the first time in Austin Peay State University basketball history a team twice will be playing outside the United States during one season.
The first of those trips will be of the exhibition variety, starting this weekend when the Governors play three straight days in Toronto. Later in the fall, the Govs will head to Cancun for the final two games of the Triple Crown Cancun Challenge.

Austin Peay Governors Basketball adds Alabama combo guard AJ Lynch to 2012-13 Recruiting Class

Clarksville, TN – AJ Lynch, a 6-2 standout prep guard out of Mobile, AL, is the latest Austin Peay State University basketball signee.
As a senior at Blount High School, Lynch averaged 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. He was a two-time second-team all-region selection for Jeff Pope. A four-year starter, he was team’s most valuable player as a senior. «Read the rest of this article»
