On August 18, 2009, around 1:15 a.m. a 17 year old male juvenile was taken in custody for the shooting of Roderick Duan Self. He will be charged with CRIMINAL HOMICIDE and transported to a juvenile holding facility. The Homicide occurred during a drug transaction.

On August 16th, 2009, around 5:25 p.m., officers responded to the area of Summer Street in reference to a shooting which already occurred. When officers arrived they found a male gunshot victim laying on the ground. Medic units responded and the male was transported to Gateway Hospital.
The victim, Roderick Duan Self, B/M, DOB: 1/2/83, of Clarksville, TN died later as a result of his injuries.

Nashville – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has put a man accused of Attempted First Degree Murder in Springfield, TN to its list of the state’s Top Ten Most Wanted fugitives in an effort to locate him.
D Lonzo Q. Petties, 20, last known address 406 South Pawnee Drive, Springfield, TN is wanted by the Springfield Police Department for Attempted First Degree Murder, Aggravated Assault and Violation of Probation. On April 20, 2009, Petties entered an apartment on Carden Circle and shot the victim in his leg. The victim escaped the residence through a window and survived. «Read the rest of this article»

Detectives Alexander, Parrish, and Matiz conducting an investigation over several months solved multiple robberies and thefts. Nekeshia Smithen (B/F, DOB: 7/1/80, Given Address: 244 Cranklin Circle, Clarksville, TN) and Devino Smithen (B/M, DOB: 7/30/09, Given Address: 2833 Cobalt Drive) were charged with multiple robberies which took place in the September and October 2008 time frame in the Wilma Rudolph and Lowes Drive area. «Read the rest of this article»

The Clarksville Police Department has identified the body that was found in the water near the West Fork Bridge on the evening of June 25th. The deceased individual was Francisco Rojo Trejo, a hispanic male. He was born on 1/29/64. The investigation is ongoing and there is no further information to release at this time.

On June 25, 2009 at approximately 7:32 p.m., a fisherman found a deceased person in the water near the West Fork Bridge off of the 101st Parkway. The person is believed to be male. Clarksville Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit is investigating the death as a homicide; this is normal procedure in the case of an unattended death.

The Clarksville Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance to identify the Aggravated Robbery suspect in the attached photos. On July 6, 2009, around 11:00 p.m., the suspect walked into a business at 1800 Madison Street (Exxon-On the Run) and told the clerk “Give me the money”. He then reached into his pocket to indicate that he had a weapon. The suspect was given the money and fled, by foot, from the scene.

Crime is still happening and we in law enforcement are doing our best to make sure it happens as little as possible. That being said, we finally received our crime statistic numbers comparing us to other Tennessee cities with over 50,000 populations. Please understand this is not meant to portray other cities in a negative or positive light, but it does let you see how our numbers look using the data submitted to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, which uses standardized criteria for reporting. On June 5, 2009 about 3:40 p.m. officers responded to a request from the Fire Department at the scene of a car fire where they found a 52 year old male, a Clarksville resident, seriously injured outside of his burnt 86 Honda in a trail off of Crossland Ave. When officers responded to the scene, they found a male who alleged that he had been carjacked, stabbed, and his vehicle set on fire.
