Fort Campbell, KY – The 4th Brigade Combat Team on Thursday held a color casing ceremony marking the transition of the unit to a wartime footing as they prepare to once again deploy to Afghanistan. In November 2012, the Currahees received the news that they would be deploying to Regional Command East (RC-East) this spring, where they will continue to provide training and mentoring to Afghan security forces.
The Brigade and Regimental colors were cased during the ceremony on Thursday and will remain furled until the unit’s command completes its transition to Afghanistan where the colors will be unfurled to fly in combat.

Fort Campbell Currahee Fire Support specialists certify in preparation for deployment

101st Airborne Division Welcomes Home 100 Soldiers from the 3rd Brigade Combat Team after Shortened Tour in Afghanistan

 Fort Campbell, KY – Approximately 100 soldiers from Company A, 1st Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team “Rakkasans,” 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) were recognized at a welcome home ceremony here February 1st when they returned from a deployment in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Originally scheduled for a nine-month deployment, the company returned after only five months due to the progress made by Afghan National Security Forces in their area of responsibility.

Fort Campbell’s 101st Airborne Division Headquarters and 4th Brigade Combat Team to deploy to Afghanistan by Spring

Washington, D.C. – The U.S. Department of Defense today identified three major units to deploy as part of the upcoming rotation of forces operating in Afghanistan.
The scheduled rotation involves two infantry brigade combat teams – one with roughly 1,400 personnel, the other with roughly 2,800 personnel – and one division headquarters with roughly 620 personnel to rotate in winter 2012 and spring 2013.

 Fort Campbell, KY – Soldiers from the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, started a transition point in their training as elements of 2nd Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, “White Currahee”, began rehearsals for the brigade’s upcoming Eagle Flight III, a company level walk-and-shoot, on August 28th, 2012 at Son Drop Zone, Fort Campbell, KY.
Eagle Flight III consists of seven training evolutions with a walk-and-shoot rehearsal at the Son Drop Zone being the first event.

2nd Brigade, Strike wins Week of the Eagles Softball Tournament

Fort Campbell, KY – Rain and lightning may have canceled all the softball games Monday, but it did little to dampen the spirits of the players.
Competitors showed up to muddy fields Tuesday morning ready to play in the Week of the Eagles 2012 Softball Tournament at North Sports complex here.
Thirteen teams representing the various brigades, division, medical, chemical and military police played strongly, but in the end 2nd Brigade Combat Team came out the winner of the tournament against 4th Brigade Combat Team.

Fort Campbell, KY – U.S. Soldiers from 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division compete in the August Top Squad competition held August 8th, 2012 at Fort Campbell, KY.
The competition with the representation of soldiers for each of the six battalions has them compete against each other in various events to test their physical and mental toughness.
Fort Campbell’s 506th Infantry Regiment celebrates 70th Birthday

 Fort Campbell, KY – The 506th Infantry Regiment celebrated its 70th birthday on July 20th, 2012 at Fort Campbell, KY. The day started with a cake cutting, followed by a 5.06 mile run and a four mile brigade run.
The day’s events included various battalion competitions as part of a Currahee Challenge, a Distingushed Member of the Regiment and Honorary Member of the Regiment ceremony, a retirement ceremony for Sergeant Major Robert J. Corrigan, and concluded with the change of responsibility from Command Sgt. Maj. William R. Hambrick, Jr., the outgoing brigade command sergeant major, to Command Sgt. Maj. Michael A. Grinston.
