At 10:00am on Friday, October 20th, 2017 alumni and the public are invited to participate in the 39th Annual Homecoming Golf Tournament at Swan Lake Golf Course.

APSU Athletes to be honored at annual Alumni Awards Brunch

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – A quartet of Governors with ties to the Austin Peay State University athletics department will be honored at the 2017 Homecoming Alumni Awards Brunch, October 21st, 2017 at Morgan University Center Ballroom.

Longtime Austin Peay head men’s basketball coach Dave Loos will receive an Outstanding Service award, while former golfer John Swigart and former football player Trent Caffee will receive Outstanding Young Alumni honors. Another former golfer, Steve Harmon, will receive one of two Outstanding Alumni awards.

APSU Men's BasketballNashville, TN – Austin Peay State University basketball will be heavily featured at the American Cancer Society’s Nashville Coaches vs. Cancer Tennessee Tip-Off event, scheduled for 6:00pm, Thursday, September 28th, 2017 on Vanderbilt’s campus.

Presented by the Loveless Cafe in the Vanderbilt Commodore Ballroom at Vanderbilt’s Student Life Center on 25th Avenue, this event boosts enthusiasm for the upcoming basketball season, shares team predictions, and recognizes and cultivates relationships with the team’s supporters.

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University athletics held a press conference Thursday morning to introduce its next head men’s basketball coach for the first time since 1990.

Matt Figger, who served as Frank Martin’s recruiting coordinator and assistant coach from his tenure at Kansas State through this year’s Final Four run with South Carolina, was announced as the 12th head coach in program history, taking over for Dave Loos, who retired in March after 27 years at the helm.

City of Clarksville honors retiring APSU coach

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan called on Clarksvillians to join her in honoring Coach Dave Loos, who retired Monday after 27 years as the men’s basketball coach at Austin Peay State University.

“Coach Loos gave his all to APSU over a long and successful career, and he was a great ambassador for the City of Clarksville,” Mayor McMillan said. “He was the undisputed Dean of Ohio Valley Conference coaches, and had great success on the court, with more than 500 victories. We wish him a long and happy retirement.”

APSU Men's Basketball - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – An era of unprecedented success at Austin Peay came to a close this morning.

After 27 years on the sidelines, Dave Loos has called it a career as Austin Peay men’s basketball coach, bringing to an end a tenure marked by integrity, ingenuity and achievement.

“The takeaway for me today is how proud I am of the things we accomplished,” Loos said during Monday’s press conference. “The thing I’m celebrating is that we helped make a lot of young people better. We helped them better themselves in the classroom. The game-changer is a college degree, and that’s the thing we really emphasized—getting the diploma and growing as a person.”

‘The Dean of Ohio Valley Conference basketball coaches’, Loos walks away following a storied career which included a league-record 421 victories, five OVC Coach of the Year honors and nine total OVC titles, including four OVC Tournament wins.

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Senior guard John Murry, of the Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Murry won a trio of weekly awards—from the Ohio Valley Conference, College Sports Madness and the Tennessee Sports Writers Association—after averaging 28.5 ppg in a pair of crucial wins for the Govs last week. The Indianapolis native shot 46.0 percent (17-for-37) from the floor, 88.2 percent (15-for-17) at the free-throw line and 53.3 percent (8-for-15) from beyond the arc.
