Instant Peay Play: Nagging trends aid in both APSU Basketball team’s recent losses

Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s men’s and women’s basketball teams got off to solid starts to their 2016-17 seasons, but recently a couple of concerning trends have aided in the current slides.

For the Governors men’s team, it has been the inability to get stops on the defense end of the floor; while the women’s team poor perimeter shooting has limited their scoring diversity.

Instant Peay Play: APSU Govs’ Josh Robinson should be odds-on favorite to lead OVC in scoring

Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – Even though the 2016-17 men’s college basketball season is in its first week, Austin Peay State University’s Josh Robinson has shown he has to be considered one of, if not, the favorite to lead the Ohio Valley Conference in scoring this season.

There are several reasons that Robinson, a 6-2, junior from St. Louis, MO, could follow former teammate Chris Horton; who led the OVC in scoring last year with an average on 18.8 points per game.

Instant Peay Play: APSU Exhibition Basketball Games show changed Governors attack

Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – Over the years, Austin Peay State University’s men’s basketball team has primarily seen its offense run from inside out attack under the direction of head coach Dave Loos, but if their two exhibition games last week are any kind of indication that may not be what Govs fans will see as much of this season.

In their two exhibition games, the Governors averaged 100.5 points per game with 60 of those points coming from behind the arc on three-point field goals and another 25 coming on fast break buckets.
