Clarksville, TN – A heads-up play by Rossview High School shortstop Blake Williams, to open the top of the seventh inning on May 6th, may have saved the Hawks from a possible ‘if game’ with Northeast High School and into the championship game of the District 10-AAA baseball tournament, as the Hawks edged the Eagles 5-4.
Rossview (22-11-1) led Northeast 5-3 heading into Northeast’s final at bat, but pinch hitter Axel Rivera ripped a sinking liner into left field in front of a hard-charging Lawson Moquin.
Northeast Eagles Baseball gets 13-3 win over Springfield High Yellow Jackets to move on in 10-AAA tournament
Clarksville, TN – Northeast High School’s baseball team did what it needed to do in its matchup with Springfield High School, May 6th in an elimination game in the District 10-AAA tournament, as the Eagles pounded out 15 hits in scoring 13 runs in a 13-3 – five inning – victory over the Yellow Jackets.
With the win, Northeast (23-12-1) advanced to a rematch with Rossview High School, needing to know off the Hawks twice to advance to the tournament finals.
Clarksville, TN – Northeast High School’s baseball team scored in every inning, May 2nd at Rossview High School’s baseball field, to open play in the District 10-AAA tournament to defeat Springfield High School, 10-0 in five innings.
The Eagles (22-11-1), the third seed in the tournament, pounded out 10 hits and worked four walks against three Yellow Jackets pitchers, while Springfield (11-22-2) only managed three hits.
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville High School’s baseball team outlasted Mother Nature, lighting problems and Northeast High School, April 29th, to win the 2014 District 10-AAA regular-season title with a 10-2 victory over the Eagles.
The Wildcats go into district tournament on May 2nd as the number-one overall seed, and along with Rossview High School, will host one of the two tournament sites.
“I told them that I was proud of them, because they knocked off the first goal that we have as a team and that’s winning the district regular-season title,” Clarksville High coach Brian Hetland said. “Now we get to host the tournament and that’s a big thing because there’s a lot of competition out there, weather you think, or someone else thinks you’re the favorite or not.”
Clarksville, TN – Senior Night for the Northeast Eagles baseball team ended in dramatic fashion. In the bottom of the ninth inning, Eric Webster scored the game-winning run off a ground ball hit by Landon Dennis for the Eagles. The Eagles defeated the Sycamore War Eagles 5-4.
Northeast’s Benji Burchwell (3-1) got the win. He pitched three innings. Matthew Heggie struck out five in six innings of work on the mound.
Clarksville, TN – As the last days of the high school baseball regular season count down, winning games becomes more crucial, especially against conference opponents. As a result, both the Kenwood Knights and the Northeast Eagles felt the pressure in their District 10-AAA face off at Northeast High School Tuesday, April 22nd.
An impressive pitching performance by Evan Frawley helped the Eagles rise to the occasion and defeat the Knights 4-1.
Game Winning hit by Devin Runkle
Clarksville, TN – Northeast Eagle Devin Runkle hit a walk off RBI in the bottom of the seventh inning to seal his team’s come from behind win over the Tullahoma Wildcats 4-3.
Runkle had gone 0-for-3 with two walks and a pop fly before coming to bat with one out and one runner on second and his team tied 3-3 with the Wildcats. He was facing Wildcat pitcher, Dixon, who had taken the mound in the fifth and shut down the Eagles, three up and three down, in the sixth.
Northeast Eagles Baseball shuts out Clarksville Academy Cougars in First Game of Workman Classic 10-0
Clarksville, TN – The Northeast Eagles shutout the Clarksville Academy Cougars 10-0 in their first game of the William Workman Classic Baseball Tournament Thursday, April 10th on their home field.
Eagles pitcher Matt Heggie earned the complete game shutout victory. Heggie allowed only four hits in his six innings on the mound. He struck out six and walked four for the night.
While Heggie held is own from the mound, he got some help from a sharp looking Eagles defense who made smart plays to keep the few runners the Cougars had out of scoring position.
Clarksville, TN – Rossview High School’s baseball team jumped out to a 5-1 lead after two innings, March 26th, on its way to handing the Northeast High School Eagles their first District 10-AAA loss of the season by a 10-5 final.
Trailing 1-0 after the first half inning of play, the Hawks (7-5, 3-1 District 10-AAA) tripled their scoring output from the March 24th 5-1 loss to the Eagles, by scoring three runs on three hits – while also being aided by a Northeast error.
