Murray, KY — Austin Peay State University’s softball team had its May 4th Ohio Valley Conference doubleheader at Murray State cancelled due to wet field conditions.
The three-game OVC series is now down to a May 5th doubleheader, starting at 11:00am., to wrap up the regular season at Central Park – just off the Murray State campus.Despite the cancelled game May 4th, the Lady Govs are still in the running for a berth into the OVC post-season tournament, with Morehead State losing both of its games to Eastern Kentucky on May 4th by scores of 3-1 and 4-3. «Read the rest of this article»
APSU to host SIU Edwardsville this weekend

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s softball team will play host to arguably the hottest team in the Ohio Valley Conference this weekend at Cheryl Holt Field as Southern Illinois Edwardsville comes to Clarksville for a three-game conference series. The two teams open things up with a noon, Saturday doubleheader and conclude with a noon, Sunday single game.

Austin Peay State University first baseman Craig Massoni named OVC Player of the Week

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University first baseman Craig Massoni was named the Ohio Valley Conference’s “Player of the Week,” Monday.
Massoni, of Danville, CA, batted .385 in three games last week, with a home run and seven RBI. The bulk of his week’s effort came in a monstrous 3-for-4, six RBI outing against Southern Illinois, Tuesday.

Clarksville, TN — Austin Peay State University’s baseball team saw its seven-game win streak come to an end in the second game of a doubleheader, Sunday afternoon at Raymond C. Hand Field, as Michigan State held on for a 4-3 win in the night cap after the Govs had taken the opening contest, 7-2.

Metarie, LA – The Nashville Sounds split a doubleheader with the New Orleans Zephyrs on Saturday evening at Zephyr Field. The Sounds dropped the opener, 4-2, and scored two late runs in the twinbill finale for a 3-1 victory. The doubleheader made up last night’s rainout.
In the nightcap, the Sounds scored two runs in the top of the 7th inning to hand the New Orleans a 3-1 defeat in the second-game of a doubleheader.

Nashville Sounds game vs. New Orleans Zephyrs Postponed on Friday Night

Doubleheader Scheduled For Saturday Evening In New Orleans
Metairie, LA – Tonight’s scheduled series opener at Zephry Field between the Nashville Sounds and New Orleans Zephyrs has been postponed due to torrential downpours throughout the day.
The game will be made up as part of a 5:00pm doubleheader on Saturday evening, when the two teams will play a pair of seven-inning games.
Sounds righty Wily Peralta (5-8, 5.10) will toe the rubber against New Orleans right-hander Tom Koehler (9-8, 3.64) in Saturday’s opener. Nashville’s starter in the finale is TBA and will be faced by Zephyrs righty J.D. Martin (5-7, 6.53).
Sounds, Sky Sox Rained Out On Thursday Night In Colorado Springs

Colorado Springs, CO – Wednesday evening’s scheduled opener of a four-game series between the Nashville Sounds and Colorado Springs Sky Sox at Security Service Field was postponed due to rain.
The game will be made up as part of a 6:00pm CT scheduled doubleheader, consisting of two seven-inning contetsts on Thursday evening.
Right-hander Mike Fiers (3-0, 2.25) will start game one for the Sounds against lefty Clayton Mortensen (1-5, 9.82). In the twinbill nightcap, Nashville southpaw Sam Narron (5-4, 4.30) will toe the rubber against Sky Sox right-hander Greg Reynolds (5-5, 6.58).
Sounds Sweep Isotopes in Doubleheader

Nashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds posted a doubleheader sweep of the visiting Albuquerque Isotopes on Thursday night at Greer Stadium. The Sounds blanked the Isotopes, 5-0, in the opener and defeated Albuquerque, 4-2, in the twinbill nightcap.
With two victories on the evening, Nashville (43-49) moved to 6-4 in doubleheader play this season, while the sweep was Nashville’s first of this season and first since the Sounds took two from the Oklahoma City RedHawks on September 2nd, 2010.

Sounds Sweep RedHawks In Doubleheader

Oklahoma City, OK – The Nashville Sounds swept the Oklahoma City RedHawks in a doubleheader on Thursday evening at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark to close out a five-game series.
The Sounds came from behind to win both contests, posting a 3-2 victory in the opener before registering a 5-4 triumph in the nightcap.
With the sweep, Nashville (74-65) took three of five from the RedHawks in the series and notched a 9-7 win in the season series between the clubs. The Sounds have won 13 of their last 18 contests.
First baseman Joe Koshansky recorded knocks in both contests to extend his hitting streak to 14 games for the Sounds, matching the longest by a Nashville player this season.
In the opener, Sounds right-hander Marty McLeary worked a seven-inning complete game and Brendan Katin ripped a go-ahead RBI double in the fifth inning to lead Nashville to a 3-2 victory. «Read the rest of this article»
Sounds Split DoubleHeader Action With RedHawks On Wednesday

Oklahoma City, OK – The Nashville Sounds split a doubleheader with Oklahoma City on Wednesday at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark, taking the opener, 9-5, and dropping the extra-inning nightcap, 3-2.
Nashville (73-65) moved to 6-8 in doubleheader action with the split. Brendan Katin went a combined 4-for-8 with three home runs in the twinbill, while Joe Koshansky extended his hitting streak to a season-high 12 games with hits in both games.
Six Sounds recorded multiple hits in the Nashville’s early afternoon victory after the club banged out 15 hits. Koshansky went 3-for-4 while Katin his first home run on the day.
The Sounds took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning as Adam Stern hit a leadoff double and scored on an RBI single from Eric Farris. Erick Almonte scored the club’s next run in the top of the fourth inning when Koshansky singled to center field for his team-leading 75th RBI. «Read the rest of this article»
