Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – After collecting that elusive road victory, Austin Peay men’s basketball team will attempt to build momentum as it plays its next five games at home.

The Governors will play host to Morehead State, 7:00pm, Wednesday, in an important OVC contest for both clubs. The Govs enter the contest 2-4 in OVC play after claiming a 56-52 decision, Saturday, at Eastern Illinois.

Top-Seeded Northeast gets OT scare from Kenwood; West Creek downs Montgomery Central to advance in Middle School Tournament

 

Northeast Middle SchoolServall Termite & Pest ControlClarksville, TN – The Area 1 AAA Boy’s Basketball Tournament almost got a shocker to open the quarter-final round, Monday, January 25th at Kenwood High School, as top-seeded Northeast Middle had to rally from 13-points down in the fourth quarter to defeat the eight-seed Kenwood Middle 51-50 in overtime; while fourth-seed West Creek Middle overcame a slow start to beat fifth-seed Montgomery Central, 60-50.

The Eagles trailed the Knights 32-19 after Amonti Moss opened the fourth quarter with a basket for Northeast Middle, just 23 seconds into the period.

Northeast Eagles can’t ground Creek Wood Red Hawks in 76-45 loss

 

Northeast High School EaglesServall Termite & Pest ControlClarksville, TN – Northeast High School was able to hang around with the high-scoring Creek Wood High School for a half, Tuesday, December 23rd in the final day of the Rossview High School Christmas Classic, but the Red Hawks pulled away in the second half for a 76-45 victory.

The Eagles (6-7) only trailed the Red Hawks 28-22 after the first 16 minutes of play, but a three-point field goal by Ross Plunkett started a 8-0 run by Creek Wood (10-0) to open the second half – building the lead out to 14 points, 36-22, just 1:07 into the second half.

Instant Peay Play: Jeremy Purvis’ basketball career at APSU has been a testament to perseverance

 

Legends Bank, Clarksville TNClarksville, TN – From the time his high school basketball playing days came to an end five years ago, Austin Peay men’s basketball point guard Jeremy Purvis has had to shown a persistence, determination and sometimes even patience to keep his playing career going; and this season has been no different.

Purvis, who played locally at Northeast High School, was starter and three-point shooting specialist for the Eagles in its two trips to the TSSAA State Tournament.

Northeast High School EaglesServall Termite & Pest ControlClarksville, TN – Northeast High School opened their District 10-AAA game versus Henry County High School, Tuesday, December 9th, by hitting three straight 3s to jump out to an 11-3 lead on their way to a 60-44 victory over the Patriots.

Nick Green would get things going for Northeast (5-3, 2-1 District 10-AAA) with a three to tie the game for the only time on the night at the 6:34 mark, followed by back-to-back 3s from Jontae’ Brown to give the Eagles a 9-3 advantage.

Anterian Cheatham scores final five points to lift Northeast Eagles past Clarksville High Wildcats in District 10-AAA opener

 

Northeast High School EaglesServall Termite & Pest ControlClarksville, TN – Anterian Cheatham scored the final five points of the game for Northeast High School, Tuesday, December 2nd at the William Workman Gymnasium, as the Eagles held off Clarksville High, 44-41, in the District 10-AAA opener for both teams.

Clarksville High (3-4, 0-1 District 10-AAA), who had trailed Northeast by as many as 13 points early in the second half, had rallied to take a 41-39 lead on a basket by Camron Stiff with 2:49 left in the game.

Northeast High Eagles hold off Kenwood High Knights in Basketball Jamboree matchup 30-26

 

Northeast High School EaglesServall Termite & Pest ControlClarksville, TN – Northeast High School had to hold off a late charge by the Kenwood High School Knights, Thursday, November 6th at the Dunn Center in the Montgomery County High School Basketball Jamboree, to come away with a 30-26 victory.

The Eagles led by double figures late in the opening quarter and still by as many as seven points, 24-17, with 2:23 left in their matchup, but would see the Knights close to as close as two points – with just under one minutes left in the scrimmage.

Kenwood High Knights Football pulls away in second half to defeat Northeast Eagles, awaits possible playoff berth

 

Kenwood High SchoolServall Termite & Pest ControlClarksville, TN - It took a while for the Kenwood High School football team to get its offense going, October 30th versus District 10-AAA opponent Northeast High School, but the Knights exploded for 26 second-half points to pull away from the Eagles, 40-7.

With the win, Kenwood (5-5, 4-3 District 10-AAA) all but guarantees itself a spot in the Tennessee State Secondary Athletic Association playoff field – which starts November 7th.

The Knights were only able to score one offensive touchdown versus Northeast (2-8, 2-5 District 10-AAA) in the first half, but scored on each of its first three drives after intermission to blow the game open.
