Top-seeded APSU Governors sweep Southeast Missouri to reach OVC Volleyball Tournament semifinals

 

2017 OVC Volleyball ChampionshipClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team only needed 74 minutes to sweep Southeast Missouri Thursday, November 16th, 2017 at the Dunn Center, in the quarterfinal round of the Ohio Valley Conference Volleyball Championship by scores of 25-18, 25-19, 25-13.

It was the only one of the four OVC quarterfinal round matches that needed just three games to decide things.

With the win, Austin Peay moves to 28-5 on the season, tying the 1992 Govs volleyball team for most wins in a single season, while the eighth-seeded Redhawks sees their season come to an end with an overall mark of 11-20.

Eastern Kentucky outlasts stubborn Belmont squad to reach OVC semifinals

 

2017 OVC Volleyball ChampionshipClarksville, TN – As typical of a four versus five-seed match, Eastern Kentucky survived a five-set thriller versus Belmont, November 16th in the Dunn Center, 25-18, 25-18, 17-25, 20-25, 16-14.

The fourth-seeded Colonels (13-18) looked to put the fifth set way early, jumping out to a 4-1 advantage over the Bruins (14-15), but Belmont rattled off three straight points to tie the set, 4-4.

The two teams would then trade the next 12 points, with the deciding set still tied 10-10 after the first 20 points.

APSU to host 2017 Ohio Valley Conference Volleyball Championship

 

Ohio Valley Conference - OVCBrentwood, TN – The 2017 Ohio Valley Conference Volleyball Championship field is set. Austin Peay State University earned the No. 1 seed and the right to host the three-day event at APSU’s Dunn Center.

SIU Edwardsville is the No. 2 seed followed by Murray State, Eastern Kentucky, Belmont, Jacksonville State, Eastern Illinois, Southeast Missouri.

The entire tournament will be streamed on the OVC Digital Network.

APSU FootballCookeville, TN –  With a chance to claim the first Sgt. York Trophy in program history, the Austin Peay State University football team picked up a 35-28 victory over in-state rival Tennessee Tech to improve to 3-0 in the series and capture the title, Saturday, November 4th, 2017 in Cookeville Tennessee.

The Governors (6-4, 5-1 OVC) rushing attack was once again dominant, racking up 423 yards – the most in any contest between two Ohio Valley Conference teams this season – en route to 522 yards of total offense.
