Birmingham, AL – Chantelle Grey’s win in the 800-meter run highlighted Austin Peay State University women’s track and field team at the Blazer Invite, hosted by UAB, Thursday and Friday.
“This was a tough meet because it was a real short turnaround for us,” head coach Doug Molnar said. “We’ve got a young team and we haven’t had a lot of practice time here in the early going.”

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s track and field team continues its indoor season, Thursday, with the UAB Blazer Invite, in Birmingham, AL, at the newly constructed Birmingham CrossPlex.
Hosted by UAB, the Blazer Invite will have athletes from more than 20 schools across the Southeast, including Ohio Valley Conference member Jacksonville State, Memphis, Western Kentucky, Georgia Southern, Mississippi State, Louisiana Tech and Bethune Cookman.

 Clarksville, TN – Whitney Hanley, a senior on the Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.
The Mt. Washington, KY, native recorded her fourth consecutive 20-point outing to begin Ohio Valley Conference play with a 26-point performance against Murray State, Saturday. Nashville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s track and field team returned from Christmas break and put forth a solid performance at the 13th Annual Ed Temple Classic hosted by Tennessee State at the Gentry Center.
Coming into the event the 1600-meter relay was the race to watch for the Lady Govs. The relay team of Sharese Braziel, Chantelle Grey, Candace Johnson, and Taelor Slaughter did not disappoint, taking home fourth place with a time of 4:04.63. Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay women’s track and field team returns from Christmas break to prepare for the Ed Temple Classic hosted by Tennessee State, 8:00am, Saturday, at the Gentry Center.
The Lady Govs are set to face some familiar foes at the classic with Middle Tennessee, Lipscomb, Western Kentucky and host Tennessee State scheduled to compete. The field events will begin at 8:00am followed by the races at 10:30am.

Newcomers shine as Austin Peay Lady Govs Track and Field open Indoor Season

Carbondale, IL – Austin Peay State University women’s track and field team saw its newcomers open the indoor season in impressive fashion at the Saluki Fast Start Invitational, Saturday, at the SIU Recreational Center.
In her first meet as a Lady Gov, junior transfer Chantelle Gray won the 600-meter run, finishing in 1:34.76 – 1.8 seconds ahead of the second-place runner. She was not the only Lady Gov to finish in the top-10 of the event as Alyxandra Pinkston took home ninth-place (1:42.89).

Clarksville, TN – After a two-week layoff, Austin Peay State University women’s track and field team returns to indoor action at Tennessee State’s TSU Invitational, Saturday, at the Gentry Center.
Austin Peay will be making its second trip to the Gentry Center after participating in the Ed Temple Classic, January 8th. This time, the Lady Govs will be without a number of athletes due to illnesses and injuries, including sophomore Cenitra Hudson, who set the triple jump school record, January 8th, at this facility.

Track and Field wraps pre-Christmas slate strong

Murfreesboro, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s track and field team had another noteworthy showing, Saturday, at Middle Tennessee’s Christmas Invitational.
Head coach Doug Molnar was impressed at his team’s efforts and all around performance in a meet that included a pair of competitive Sun Belt teams (Middle Tennessee and Western Kentucky), along with Ohio Valley Conference member Tennessee State.
“I can see the confidence growing from week one to week two,” Molnar said. “This is a group that is going to continue to grow.”
