Nashville Sounds fall late to New Orleans Baby Cakes, 8-5

 

Nashville SoundsMetairie, LA – The Nashville Sounds watched their lead vanish in the bottom of the eighth inning when the New Orleans Baby Cakes scored five runs to win  8-5 Sunday afternoon at the Shrine on Airline. The five-game set now is even at two wins apiece.

The Sounds trailed 3-1 after five innings but rallied over the next three frames to take a 5-3 lead. In the sixth, Eli White doubled and scored on a wild pitch, and Tyler Pill nailed a game-tying RBI double off the wall in right to make it 3-3. Then Nolan Fontana blasted a home run leading off the seventh and drew a bases-loaded walk against Brian Moran in the eighth for a 5-3 advantage.

Nashville Sounds roll past New Orleans Baby Cakes, 10-3

 

Nashville SoundsMetairie, LA – On Saturday night, the Nashville Sounds dropped the New Orleans Baby Cakes 10-3 at the Shrine on Airline. Nashville’s Andy Ibanez and Carlos Tocci combined for seven hits, four runs and five RBIs in the win. The Sounds totaled a season-high 18 hits and matched their largest margin of victory on the year.

The game was tied 1-1 in the third when Nolan Fontana launched a home run to right field to give the Sounds a lead they never gave away, and they broke open the game with a six-run third off Ben Meyer. Eli White drilled a two-run double, Matt Davidson singled home a run and Ibanez crushed a three-run homer to make it 8-1.

Nashville Sounds lose at New Orleans Baby Cakes, 6-2

 

Nashville SoundsNew Orleans, LA – Nashville Sounds fall 6-2 to the New Orleans Baby Cakes Tuesday night at the Shrine on Airline. The Baby Cakes hit four home runs in the win. Second baseman Isan Diaz hit a pair of solo blasts off Sounds’ starter Seth Maness.

The home run barrage started immediately when Magneuris Sierra started the bottom of the first inning with a lead off home run for the Baby Cakes.

New Orleans went on to score single tallies in the third, fourth and fifth innings to extend their lead to 4-0. The first home run of the night for Diaz was a solo shot in the top of the fifth inning.

Nashville Sounds fall to Salt Lake Bees 11-8 Sunday afternoon at First Tennessee Park. Salt Lake scored seven runs in the second inning on their way to victory.

Salt Lake’s huge second inning started with a bang when Kaleb Cowart crushed a solo homer off Nashville starter Pedro Payano into The Band Box to make it a 1-0 game. Four of the next six batters reached safely – two on hits and two on walks issued by Payano.

Nashville Sounds get 2-0 home win over Las Vegas Aviators

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – On Wednesday night, Tim Dillard and a trio of Nashville Sounds relievers held the Las Vegas Aviators to two hits to help the Sounds to a 2-0 win in front of 8,994 fans at First Tennessee Park.

Dillard continued his strong 2019 campaign with 5 2/3 shutout innings. He held Las Vegas to just two hits and allowed three walks. The right-hander struck out a pair and earned his fifth win of the season.

Nashville got Dillard a run to work with in the fifth inning. Las Vegas starter Jake Buchanan was tough as well, holding the Sounds to two runs on four hits in six innings.

Nashville Sounds blank Tacoma Rainiers, 3-0

 

Nashville SoundsTacoma, WA – Nashville Sounds’ Seth Maness and Wes Benjamin combined on a five-hitter Sunday afternoon, leading the team to a 3-0 victory over the Tacoma Rainiers at Cheney Stadium. It marks the team’s first shutout win of the year, and its first winning series in Tacoma since 2002.

The Sounds, now 3-3 on their road trip, again got early home runs for a lead they never gave away. Eli White blasted a solo shot leading off the third against Anthony Misiewicz, and Jett Bandy belted a two-run shot in the fourth for a 3-0 score that became the final. White has four home runs on the road trip, and each time it has given the Sounds a 1-0 lead.

Nashville Sounds defeat Tacoma Rainiers, 4-2

 

Nashville SoundsTacoma, WA – The Nashville Sounds, powered by Eli White and Patrick Wisdom homers, never trailed Saturday night in 4-2 win over the Tacoma Rainiers at Cheney Stadium. The Sounds have won the first two games of the four-game set and haven’t trailed at any point.

Esmerling Vasquez notched the win in his Sounds debut. He tossed five innings of shutout ball and was the beneficiary when White broke the scoreless tie with a two-out solo homer to left field in the sixth inning off Tyler Cloyd. Then Wisdom led off the seventh with a blast of his own to left off Matt Carasiti to make it 2-0.

Nashville Sounds give up late run to lose 11-10 to Reno Aces

 

Nashville SoundsReno, NV – The Nashville Sounds rally late to tie Reno Aces Thursday night but gave up a run in the bottom of the ninth for an 11-10 loss at Greater Nevada Field. The Sounds got swept in the series and have lost five consecutive games.

Down 10-5 after four innings, the Sounds rallied to tie it 10-10 by the end of seven. Adam Moore drilled a two-run homer in the fifth, Matt Davidson launched a two-run shot over the scoreboard in left in the sixth, and Moore singled home Tyler Pill in the seventh to draw the Sounds even.

Nashville SoundsReno, NV – The Nashville Sounds drop their second game in a row to the Reno Aces 3-2 at Greater Nevada Field Wednesday night. Nashville out-hit Reno, 10-4, but went just 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position in their fourth straight loss.

Just as he did in the series opener Tuesday night, Nashville’s Eli White got the scoring started with a bang Wednesday night when he drilled a solo home run in the first inning to give the Sounds a 1-0 lead. The blast to right-center was White’s sixth home run of the season.

Nashville Sounds fall to Reno Aces, 12-11

 

Nashville SoundsReno, NV – The Nashville Sounds were up four runs into the bottom of the ninth over the Reno Aces then Nashville gave up four home runs to Reno including a Matt Szczur walk-off home run. The Aces won the game 12-11.

There was plenty of scoring in the beginning of the game as both teams scored in each of the first three innings. Eli White hit his fifth home run of the season in the first inning to score first for Nashville. Reno scored two runs in the bottom-half of the first on a two-run single by Wyatt Mathisen.

Adam Moore had an RBI double in the top of the second to tie the game at two.
