Land Between The Lakes Facilities Re-open for 2013 Season

Golden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area begins its 2013 operations on Friday, March 1st, by opening several popular visitor attractions.
The Homeplace, Woodlands Nature Station, and North and South Welcome Stations open their doors March 1st, along with Energy Lake, Hillman Ferry and Piney Campgrounds. Land Between the Lakes makes changes due to Budget Reduction
Golden Pond, KY – Those visiting Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area in 2013 will see a few changes. Thanks to public involvement, LBL has been able to create an effective budget reduction strategy.
Some changes visitors can expect are slight fee increases in Day-Use Facility admission, OHV and Equestrian Permits, Hunting and Backcountry Camping Permits, as well as Camping Shelters and horse stall rentals. Land Between The Lakes to hold Bison Auction February 2nd
Golden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area has scheduled their annual Bison Auction for Saturday, February 2nd, 2013.
The USDA Forest Service manages two herds of American Bison at LBL. Due to annual reproduction, there is a need to remove surplus bison from each herd. Thinning of the herd is necessary to sustain optimal habitat conditions and animal health.

Land Between the Lakes to Waive Fees in Honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
Golden Pond, KY – Monday, January 21st, Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area will be waiving fees at participating day-use facilities in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. General admission to the Elk and Bison Prairie will be free and Wranglers Campground will also be waiving day-use riding fees.

Land Between the Lakes Administrative Office and Golden Pond Visitor Center Holiday Schedule
Golden Pond, KY – The Golden Pond Visitor Center at Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area will be open from 9:00am-3:00pm on Christmas Eve, Monday, December 24th, and remain closed on Christmas Day, Tuesday, December 25th.
