 Beloved: "Dollie"
The holiday shopping season is now upon us. Every retail store, and shopping mall is raising their big ‘Sales of the Season’ signs and each competing for your dollar. Your children’s eyes are beginning to develop that twinkle about them, and letters to Santa are beginning to be drafted.
Before you set your alarm clock this Black Friday to storm the stores for all the latest toys please take this into consideration.
August 2007 Mattel toys recalls 18.6 million toys that “might contain tiny, dangerous magnets or toxic lead paint”. These magnets inside of the toys if swallowed have been known to connect across intestines and rip a child’s bowls apart.

 Elle-girl and Elmo
Earlier this week while at Kroger I noticed some baby lotion in the clearance bend from Earth’s Best Organics. Since this was already a brand I use with Elle-girl’s foods, I thought I would try it. I’ve loved it! It’s true lavender, and smells yummy, and it goes on so smooth, unlike other thick lotions. Elle-girl, who has always hated getting rubbed down with lotion, also seemed to love it. She lays very still while I apply the lotion before bed, then she carries the bottle around the house during the day. I started to notice as she carried it around she would sing the Elmo song that she learns on Sesame St.
If you haven’t figured it out yet, we love Sesame Street and Elle-girl loves Elmo! National Public Television offers many great programs for Adults as well as children 24hrs a day. NPR boasts of being viewer sponsored and therefore they do not buy into selling lots of products through commercials on their station. As a parent, I appreciate that. «Read the rest of this article»

 Elle girl and Elmo
Last night after a family dinner out at our favorite pre-baby restaurant, Old Chicago, we thought we would make an attempt to return to post-baby normalcy by going to a book store that we had not ventured into since before Elle-girl was born.
We never took a small baby to this particular book store because we didn’t want to be “those” parents of an obnoxiously loud toddler screaming its head off because it couldn’t get what it wanted, you know the type, the ones that people who don’t have children scoff at ?
We thought that now that our well mannered daughter was a bit older that we would try it. Not taking into consideration that it was 9 p.m. at night, and our toddler is usually curled up in her footie pajamas by this time any other night of the week.
It started off well. She seemed stunningly overwhelmed by the mass majority of her favorite thing in the whole wide world all around her, books!
She was all smiles and all whispers, just like planned! «Read the rest of this article»
