APSU Baseball’s Parker Phillips becomes third Governor to earn NCBWA freshman honors

APSU BaseballLynchburg, VA – For the second time in five days, Austin Peay State University freshman catcher Parker Phillips has earned national recognition, with the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association naming him a Second-Team Freshman All-American, Monday.

Phillips becomes is just the third Austin Peay freshman to earn recognition from the NCBWA, joining catcher Matt Wollenzin (2011) and utility man Alex Robles (2014).

APSU BaseballTuscon, AZ – Catcher Parker Phillips, of Austin Peay State University’s baseball team, was named to the 2017 Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American team, Wednesday.  

It is the first time since 2014 an Austin Peay freshman has been recognized on the Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American Team.

APSU’s Parker Phillips earns first adidas® OVC Player of the Week award

APSU BaseballBrentwood, TN – Austin Peay State University Baseball redshirt freshman Parker Phillips was named the adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week, Monday, becoming the third APSU baseball athlete to earn the award this season.

Phillips, who played at three different positions last week, led the Governors with a .500 (10-for-20) batting average in last week’s five games.

APSU BaseballClarksville, TN – First baseman Parker Phillips went 5-for-5 with three RBI and Austin Peay State University’s baseball team ended its four-game losing streak with a 7-5 victory against Evansville, Tuesday night at Raymond C. Hand Park.

Phillips became the third Govs hitter to post a 5-for-5 outing this season – all three occurring in the last two weeks.

APSU BaseballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University baseball right fielder Chase Hamilton hit his season’s 12th home run as part of a 3-for-4 outing but the Governors could not keep pace with a red-hot SIU Edwardsville squad, dropping a 14-4 Ohio Valley Conference decision, Sunday afternoon at Raymond C. Hand Park.

Hamilton delivered his home run in the second inning, helping Austin Peay (20-25, 11-15 OVC) cut an early deficit to 3-2.
