The Montgomery County Democratic Party will host their annual Labor Day Celebration on September 17th at 5pm. This year’s event will be held at the Water Street Events Center on Riverside Drive. This will be a buffet type event, with Montgomery County Candidate Kim McMillan, along with each of the other Democratic Generational Candidates, Ward Cammack, Jim Kyle, Roy Herron and Mike McWherter are to speak. Local Democratic Candidate Greg Rabidoux who continues his bid for the 7th Congressional District will also address those in attendance. For the Lewis Brothers, Gene and Orville, their retirement celebration was a time of family and friends coming together. A multi-generational festival sees football scrimmages and ball tosses by the youngsters amid a plentiful spread of traditional holiday family-style buffet fare.

Most people happily look forward to a single retirement celebration. However that was too limiting for the brothers Gene and Orville Lewis of Woodlawn. Saturday afternoon, at the Lewis Family farm, the two brothers held a double retirement celebration with family, friends and work colleagues all invited to sit down to some fabulous home-cooked treats. «Read the rest of this article»

The Montgomery County Democratic party will host a “Democratic Convention Watch Party” on Thursday, August 28 at MCDP headquarters, 534 Madison Street (on the corner of University and Madison street) at 7 p.m.
The public is invited to join the MCDP and Clarksville for Obama in watching Senator Barack Obama accept the nomination as the Democratic candidate for the position of President of the United States of America. This year’s convention is a piece of American history in the making.
The Democratic Party office is now open from 2-5 in the afternoon, and will “hit the ground running” with full time hours as the convention ends, according to MCDP Chairman Gene Lewis.

With an eye to the 2008 presidential election and primary elections coming up in August, Chairman Gene Lewis issued a reminder that the Montgomery County Democratic Party will hold their monthly meeting at on Tuesday, June 24, at 7 p.m. at the Smith-Trahern Mansion on McClure Street in downtown Clarksville. The Montgomery County Democratic Women are sponsoring two voter registration events, according to Gene Lewis, chairman of the MCDP.
On Saturday, May 31, the Democratic women will be at Krogers at Dover Road from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.. On June 2, they will host a voter forum at the Public Library on Pageant Lane at 6 p.m. The public is welcome to take this opportunity to learn about the upcoming elections and register to vote.

The Montgomery County Democratic Party Executive Committee will host a “Meet and Greet” for U.S. Senate Candidates Bob Tuke and Mike Pagent, along with local candidates for 22nd District Senate, 67th district and County Candidates. The “Meet and Greet” will run from 5:30pm -8:00pm, Friday May 16, at IAM Union Hall, 121 Union Rd. The public is invited to come to this event and meet the candidates and discuss the issues. Suggested donation is $5.00.
