Austin Peay’s Chantelle Grey named OVC Indoor Track Athlete of the Year

Brentwood, TN – Senior middle distance runner Chantelle Grey, of Austin Peay State University women’s track and field team, has been named Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Track Athlete of the Year, the conference office announced Thursday.

Grey is the seventh Austin Peay athlete to capture an OVC Athlete of the Year Award for track and field in the program’s history. Given annually since 1990 and split into track and field awards in 2001, this honor was bestowed on Grey in a vote by the conference coaches.

Geneva, OH - Austin Peay State University senior runner Chantelle Grey placed 11th in the 800m run at Saturday’s Spire Invitational with an indoor personal-best 2:07.69 run.

Clarksville, TN - Senior distance runner Chantelle Grey, of the Austin Peay State University women’s track and field team, has been invited to take part in the 800m run at the Spire Invitational, Saturday, in Geneva, Ohio.

Austin Peay Governors Lady Govs Track and Field’s Xiamar Richards named OVC Women’s Track Co-Athlete of the Week

Brentwood, TN – Junior Xiamar Richards has earned the Ohio Valley Conference’s Women’s Track Co-Athlete of the Week, February 5th, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Richards set a school record in the 5000m run at Saturday’s TSU Invitational, placing second with a 17:52.32 run. That bested her previous mark (17:53.05), which she set at last season’s OVC Indoor Championships.

Austin Peay Lady Govs Track and Field’s Chantelle Grey moves closer to the Austin Peay 800-meter record at SPIRE Invitational

APSU Sports: Austin Peay Women’s Track and Field

Geneva, OH – Junior Chantelle Grey, of the Austin Peay women’s track and field team inched closer to the 800-meter school record with a 2:08.41, and a sixth-place finish at the SPIRE Invitational.

In fact, the Missoula, Montana native actually finished second in her heat race prior to the final, leading that race down to the final 100 meters. The sixth-place time in the finals put the Lady Gov standout in the NCAA’s top-50. «Read the rest of this article»
