Anaheim, CA – In the third round of the shootout, Predators’ David Legwand lifts a shot up that is deflected off the glove of Duck’s goaltender Viktor Fasth and into the air. Viktor is able to gather the puck in to seal a 3-2 shootout win over Nashville for Anaheim at the Honda Center.

Glendale, AZ – The Nashville Predators may well have played their best game of the series – and possibly the playoffs – posting a 33-17 advantage in shots on goal and 73-to-40 lead in shot attempts, while holding a massive edge in zone time, but still finding a way to lead hits 39-37.

In Game Five of the 2011 WCS against the Vancouver Canucks, Joel Ward played the hero for Nashville as the team staved off elimination for the first time in franchise history. Glendale, AZ – Each time the Nashville Predators appeared to gain some momentum, the Phoenix Coyotes would take advantage of a Nashville misplay to wrestle momentum away from the Predators, en route to a 5-3 Coyotes win in Game 2 on Sunday evening.
The Preds surrendered a goal to Pyatt just 30 seconds after Patric Hornqvist’s power-play goal brought the Preds to 3-2 and temporarily quieted the crowd. Nashville again appeared to gain some momentum when Ryan Suter scored on the power-play 53 seconds into the third period, but the Preds struggled the remainder of the four-on-four and the Coyotes cashed in on a faceoff play at the 3:36 mark of the third to regain the two goal lead. «Read the rest of this article»

Glendale, AZ – The Nashville Predators opened their four-game West Coast road trip with a wild 5-4 shootout win against the Phoenix Coyotes. Nashville never trailed in the game, owning leads of 1-0, 2-1, and 4-2, but saw Phoenix rally each time to tie the score and ultimately force overtime.
Both teams had several chances in the OT frame, but were unable to convert, sending the game to a shootout. Pekka Rinne denied all three Coyotes shooters, starting with Ray Whitney to open the shootout. Glendale, AZ – The Nashville Predators and Phoenix Coyotes close out their season series on Monday at Jobing.com Arena. The Predators have posted a road record of 10-13-2 against the Desert Dogs since the start of the 2003-04 campaign, while posting an overall record of 17-11-(1)-2 in the same span.
These teams last met on December 6th, as the Coyotes downed the Predators 3-2 in the Music City. The teams traded goals through the first 52 minutes with Jack Hillen – who played in his 200th game – scoring in the opening period and Shea Weber adding a power-play goal late in the third to tie the game at two.
