Tennessee Lady Vols beat #20 Purdue in Overtime, 101-99

UT Lady VolsPuerto Aventuras, Mexico – Double-double performances by seniors Jaime Nared and Mercedes Russell fueled No. 12/14 Tennessee to a 101-99 overtime win over No. 20/20 Marquette on Thursday night at the Hard Rock Hotel Convention Center.
 
Nared got off to a quick start, scoring 15 points in the first half. She finished the day with 26 points, 15 rebounds and six assists for her second double-double this season and the 11th of her career. Russell came on strong in the second half, notching 12 of her 17 points and grabbing 13 of 15 boards in the final 25 minutes of the game. She also posted her second double-double this season and the 32nd of her career.

Tennessee Lady Vols take on Marquette in Cancun Challenge, Thursday

UT Lady VolsPuerto Aventuras, Mexico – No. 12/14 Tennessee (3-0) plays its first game away from Knoxville this season, as the Lady Vols take part in the Cancun Challenge in Puerto Aventuras, Mexico, Thursday through Saturday.

Competing in the Riviera Tournament, the Lady Vols open play vs. No. 20/20 Marquette (1-1) at 5:30pm CT on Thanksgiving night.

UT enters undefeated after winning three straight at home to open the season, rolling past East Tennessee State, 87-49, and James Madison, 89-60, at Thompson-Boling Arena on November 12th and 15th, respectively, before closing out a three-game season-opening home stand with a 68-56 victory over Wichita State on Monday night.

Tennessee Vols Football beats Southern Miss, 24-10

 

Tennessee took home its fourth consecutive Homecoming win as the Vols defeated Southern Miss, 24-10

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – With the defense forcing two third-quarter turnovers and the offense converting those opportunities into 14 points, Tennessee broke open a tight game and surged past Southern Miss, 24-10, Saturday night in the annual Homecoming game at Neyland Stadium.

With an announced crowd of 95,551 on hand, UT improved to 4-5 on the season, thanks to a pair of rushing touchdowns from junior tailback John Kelly and another from redshirt freshman quarterback Jarrett Guarantano. With their second-straight loss, the Golden Eagles fell to 5-4 this season.

APSU Football claims Sgt. York Trophy with 35-28 win at Tennessee Tech

APSU FootballCookeville, TN –  With a chance to claim the first Sgt. York Trophy in program history, the Austin Peay State University football team picked up a 35-28 victory over in-state rival Tennessee Tech to improve to 3-0 in the series and capture the title, Saturday, November 4th, 2017 in Cookeville Tennessee.

The Governors (6-4, 5-1 OVC) rushing attack was once again dominant, racking up 423 yards – the most in any contest between two Ohio Valley Conference teams this season – en route to 522 yards of total offense.

APSU Football gives UCF all it could handle in Saturday loss

APSU FootballOrlando, FL –  Kyran Moore scored two touchdowns and amassed 363 all-purpose yards as Austin Peay State University’s football team gave nationally-ranked UCF all it could handle before falling 73-33 in a nonconference tilt, Saturday, at Spectrum Stadium.

Moore’s 363 all-purpose yards is the best performance in the FCS this season and the third best in all of Division I. He opened his assault with a 74-yard pass reception from Jeremiah Oatsvall that set up the Govs second touchdown and was the longest pass play this season.

APSU Women's VolleyballCookeville, TN – Freshman Brooke Moore finished with 10 kills to deliver Austin Peay State University volleyball head coach Taylor Mott her 400th career win in a three-set (25-20, 25-18, 25-18) Ohio Valley Conference sweep of Tennessee Tech, Friday night, at the Eblen Center.

Austin Peay (18-4, 6-1 OVC), which regained sole possession of the OVC lead with the win, had to shake off a uneven start to the match.
