2013 Ohio Valley Conference Baseball Championship Field Set

 

Ohio Valley ConferenceBrentwood, TN – The 2013 Ohio Valley Conference Baseball Championship field is now set. The event will be held May 22nd-26th at The Ballpark at Jackson (formerly Pringles Park) in Jackson, Tennessee.

This year marks the fourth year in a row the event will be held at the venue, which is home of the Jackson Generals, the AA-affiliate of the Seattle Mariners.

The Austin Peay Governors won 12 consecutive games to earn a second place finish in the OVC Regular Season Standings and a first round bye in the OVC Tournament.

APSU Lady Govs Golf claim OVC Sportsmanship Award

 

Ohio Valley ConferenceBrentwood, TN – On Tuesday the Ohio Valley Conference announced that Tennessee Tech University men’s team and the Austin Peay State University women’s team are the recipients of the 2012-13 Team Sportsmanship Awards for golf.

Voted on by the student-athletes and coaches of the respective sports, the team awards are bestowed upon the Conference squads deemed to have best exhibited the standards of sportsmanship and ethical behavior as outlined by the OVC and NCAA. Included in the areas for evaluation are the conduct of student-athletes, coaches, staff and administrators and fans.

APSU Lady Govs Track and Field wins Battle of the Cumberland Track Meet

 

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN - Austin Peay State University women’s track and field team won its Battle of the Cumberland tri-meet against Murray State and Tennessee Tech, Tuesday, at Governors Stadium.

The Lady Govs topped the charts at 94 team points. The Racers’ 65 points put them ahead of the Golden Eagles’ 36-point tally.

Austin Peay State University Governors SportsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team closes out its regular season with two important weekend matches at the Austin Peay Tennis Courts.

The Govs battle Tennessee Tech, 1:00pm, Saturday, with the conference title on the line and conclude the season with a 2:00pm, Sunday tilt against Jacksonville State.

APSU Baseball beats Tennessee Tech 7-3 making coach Gary McClure the OVC all-time wins leader

Austin Peay State University Governors SportsClarksville, TNAustin Peay State University baseball coach Gary McClure became the Ohio Valley Conference all-time wins leader — in his first attempt — Friday night at Raymond C. Hand Park, but more importantly the Govs continued their winning ways in conference play defeating Tennessee Tech, 7-3.

The win was the 777th for McClure — in his 26th season — as he breaks the tie with former longtime coach of Murray State, Johnny Reagan, who led the Racers from 1958 to 1993.

With the 11-week OVC regular-season race entering its fifth week, the second-place Governors sit just percentage points ahead of the third-place Golden Eagles.

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsCookeville, TN – Today’s Ohio Valley Conference softball doubleheader at Tennessee Tech has been cancelled due to rain.

The original start time was scheduled for a noon first pitch, but with rain still falling in Cookeville late into the morning Tennessee Tech officials had no chose but to call the games off.
