Golden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area’s 2014 spring squirrel hunting season will open in Tennessee from May 10th-June 8th and in Kentucky from May 17th-June 20th.
Hunters must have a valid Kentucky or Tennessee state hunting license for the state in which they are hunting. Hunters age 16 and older must also have a Land Between The Lakes Hunter Use Permit. These are available at North and South Welcome Stations, Golden Pond Visitor Center, and wherever Kentucky and Tennessee state hunting licenses are sold. «Read the rest of this article»
Golden Pond, KY – Are you an educator interested in planning a field trip to experience the Land Between The Lakes outdoor classroom? If so, now is the time to apply for an Educational Field Trip Grant. The deadline for the 2014-2015 school year field trip grant application is April 30th, 2014.
The Educational Field Trip Grant is available to public school districts within 100 miles of Land Between The Lakes.
Golden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area invites the public to attend the 8th Annual Quilt Show, April 26th-27th from 10:00am-4:00pm on Saturday, and 10:00am-3:00pm on Sunday at The Homeplace.
Program is included with the purchase of general admission to The Homeplace; $5.00 ages 13 & up, $3.00 ages 5-12, and free ages 4 & under.
Golden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area plans to conduct an Environmental Assessment for a land and resource management project to improve forest health in the Pisgah Bay Area in Lyon County, Kentucky.
The project will follow requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) 40 CFR 1500-1508.
Golden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes closed Fenton Campground for camping until further notice. The emergency decision came after assessing the damage from the storm that passed through the area Friday morning, April 4th, 2014.

Golden Pond, KY – Calling all home educators! April is Homeschooler’s Month across Land Between The Lakes (LBL). Plan a field trip to Land Between The Lakes to use the outdoors as your classroom anytime; this new program in April offers a passport of learning.
Pick up your “Land Between The Lakes Explorers Passport” during April at Woodlands Nature Station, The Homeplace, or Golden Pond Planetarium. Complete the activities to earn an official Explorer’s Patch and certificate!

Golden Pond, KY – Celebrate an 1850’s wedding at The Homeplace on Saturday, March 29th. The wedding ceremony and celebration will take place from 1:00pm-3:00pm and is included with Homeplace admission. Beginning at 10:00am, you can see the wedding dress, hope chest, and wedding gifts.
At 11:00am, learn the history of the Single Pen House. The Homeplace serves as a living history farm located in the Tennessee portion of Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area. Visitors can participate in the wedding just like friends of the couple getting married.
Golden Pond, KY – Woodlands Nature Station, at Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area, will host Girl Scout’s Day on March 29th, ongoing from 10:00am-3:00pm.
Events and information will be geared towards helping Girl Scouts of different levels work towards earning achievement awards.
