The Elk & Bison Prairie, drive through wildlife viewing area, is open all year, dawn until dusk. Admission is $5.00 per vehicle.
Golden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area will present “Civil War Comes to The Homeplace,” Saturday, December 14th, from 10:00am-3:00pm. Local historian, Susan “Ski” Witzofsky, will present War Between The Rivers at 1:00pm in The Homeplace Theater.
Come visit The Homeplace as the farm goes forward in time to the Civil War era.

Golden Pond, KY – Beginning December 2nd, free Christmas tree permits will be available at Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area.
A permit entitles a family to cut one cedar tree between December 2nd and 24th. Permits, maps, and cutting guidelines may be obtained from the LBL Administrative Office, 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday, and at the Golden Pond Visitor Center, 9:00am-5:00pm, Saturday and Sunday. Golden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area is now accepting applications for the 2014 seasonal camping program.
There are a total of 114 campsites in the seasonal camping program available for two to nine months at Hillman Ferry, Piney, and Wranglers campgrounds. Fenton, Cravens Bay, Taylor Bay, and Redd Hollow campgrounds have a total of 32 short-term (one to six months) sites available.
Golden Pond, KY – Small game hunting seasons open at Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area beginning December 1st, 2013. Small game hunting offers great opportunities to enjoy the outdoors during winter months.
All hunters, age 16 and older, must have an LBL Hunter Use Permit, an appropriate state license, and observe LBL rules and applicable state laws regarding hunting zones and safety precautions.
Golden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area will open certain areas typically marked as “No Hunting” zones for archery deer hunting. Hunters are encouraged to harvest antlerless deer in these areas to reduce deer populations.
Kentucky areas will be open to archery hunting from December 1st through January 20th, including Hillman Ferry and Energy Lake campgrounds. Tennessee areas will be open to archery hunting from December 1st through January 5th and include Brandon Spring Group Center, Piney Campground, and the South Nature Watch Demonstration Area in the eastern portion of Hunt Area 16.

Golden Pond, KY – Ready to make camping reservations for 2014 at Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area? Reservations may be now made for the 2014 camping season beginning November 12th, 2013.
Beginning Friday, November 15th, reservations may be made any time up to 6 months in advance.
Golden Pond, KY – Bring your cub scouts to Woodlands Nature Station’s annual Cub Scout Day on Saturday, November 16th, from 10:00am-3:00pm, for a day full of activities and programs focused on the Cub Scout Hiking Belt Loop and Pin Awards.
The program is free with Nature Station admission, $5.00 adults, $3.00 children 5-12, free 4 and under.
