APSU Football to hold Second Saturday Scrimmage today

APSU FootballClarksville, TN – Week Three of Austin Peay State University football’s preseason camp will begin with a 2:00pm, Saturday, August 12th, 2017 scrimmage at Fortera Stadium.

After holding their first scrimmage last week, the Governors will ramp up the reps given to the first-teamers this Saturday with the regular season now just 20 days away.

Austin Peay State University Athletics, Governors Club to host Business After Hours

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s intercollegiate athletics department and the Governors Club will serve as host to the Clarksville Chamber of Commerce’s August “Business After Hours,” in a 5:00pm, Thursday, August 17th, 2017 event in the Echo Power Club Level at Fortera Stadium.

The free event will give attendees the opportunity to experience the Echo Power Club Level and enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres and beverages. Austin Peay coaches and staff members will be present to meet local business leaders. Attendees also will have an opportunity to win door prizes at the event.

APSU Football tickets available now for season opener at Cincinnati

APSU FootballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s athletics department has a limited number of tickets available through its ticket office for its season-opening contest at Cincinnati.

The Governors will face the Bearcats in a 6:00pm (CT), Thursday, August 31st, 2017 contest at Nippert Stadium in Cincinnati, OH. Austin Peay’s tickets, available for $41.00 each, will be located in Sections 104-108 at the stadium (see seating map below).

Austin Peay announces Pairings for August 4th APSU Governors Golf Classic

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Pairings have been announced for Friday’s Austin Peay State University/Echo Power Engineering Governors Golf Classic fundraiser, presented by Hand Family Companies and the APSU Governors Club, is set for August 4th, 2017 at the Clarksville Country Club and Swan Lake Golf Course.

New this year is a Women’s Division, which includes breakfast at the course courtesy of Bojangles, teeing off at 8:00am at the Clarksville Country Club. The Open Division – lunch included, with Dairy Queen provided on the course – tees off at 12:30pm from both courses.

APSU Football beings practice Saturday

APSU FootballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s football team reported to camp Friday, July 28th, 2017, and will hold its first open practice 8:30am, Saturday, July 30th at Fortera Stadium.

Over 100 athletes, including the top-ranked recruiting class among NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision teams, will report to campus and spend Friday moving in, attending team meetings and enjoying their first team meal.

APSU FootballClarksville, TN – A new seating experience will be available at Fortera Stadium for Governors football fans this season as the Austin Peay State University athletics department has teamed with boxLIFE to provide five field level suites for the upcoming football season.

The five Austin Peay-themed boxGATE suites will be available in the north end zone at Fortera Stadium.

Longtime APSU Govs supporter Bill Roberts passes away at 63

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Bill Roberts, a longtime supporter of Austin Peay State University athletics and prominent member of the Clarksville community, passed away Tuesday at the age of 63.

Since moving to Clarksville from Massachusetts in the mid-1990s, Roberts has been a community pillar and an active supporter of all things Austin Peay. A member of the Red Coat Society—Austin Peay’s Hall of Fame for service to APSU athletics—Roberts was instrumental in the group’s foundation and was inducted in 2007 alongside Billy Atkins and the late Dr. Gaines Hunt.

APSU Football Season Ticket Renewals Available

APSU FootballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay Football season ticket renewal statements were recently mailed to 2016 season ticket holders.  Ticket prices and donation requirements are the same as 2016. 

Fans are encouraged to secure their seats by the renewal deadline on Thursday, June 15th, in order to guarantee the same seat locations as last season.

Instant Peay Play: Dr. Gaines Hunt left mark across APSU landscape

 

Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – With the passing of Dr. Gaines Hunt this past Friday, Austin Peay lost not only a longtime former professor and administrator, but someone who touched so many lives, both at APSU and across the country.

A native of near-by Cheatham County, Hunt’s ties with Austin Peay go back to the early 1960’s – graduating in 1966 – and returning as a Professor of Agriculture in 1971, twice serving as the department chair, after earning his Master’s and Doctorate degrees at Mississippi State.

APSU Governors Bass Tournament begins in a few weeks

APSU Governors Bass TournamentClarksville, TN – On Saturday, May 13th, 2017 the 24th annual APSU Governors Bass Tournament will be held at Kentucky Lake, with registration and boat launching from Paris Landing (Tennessee) State Park. Last season’s tourney drew nearly 200 boats.

More than $12,000 dollars in prize money will be awarded. Previously, the Top 25 places earned cash prizes but now only the Top 10 places will gain monetary awards, meaning greater cash payouts, respectively, for those positions.
