Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUBowling Green, KY – Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team hung tough with a veteran-laden Western Kentucky squad but couldn’t make one final run, falling 77-70 to the Hilltoppers in the 2014-15 regular-season opener.

The Govs left E.A. Diddle Arena with a seventh straight loss to the Hilltoppers, despite putting four players in double figures. For Western Kentucky, they move to 1-0 in their first season as members of Conference USA.

APSU Governors Baseball closes signing period, add Brett Newberg

Newberg is a 6-1, 220-pound left-handed pitcher and first baseman at Moline High School under head coach Craig Schimmel.

APSU Tennis’ Aleksas Tverijonas earns OVC Scholar-Athlete Award

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUBrentwood, TN – Austin Peay State University senior men’s tennis player Aleksas Tverijonas has earned one of six prestigious Ohio Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Awards for 2013-14, the conference office announced Friday.

Tverijonas is one of six selected recipients—three men and three women—determined by a vote of OVC Faculty Athletics Representatives.

APSU Governors Baseball adds infielder Parker Phillips to 2015 roster

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – The second signee of the fall signing period is a familiar face to the Austin Peay State University baseball coaching staff. Parker Phillips, of Collierville, TN has signed to join the Govs in 2015.

Phillips, a 6-4, 235-pound infielder, will complete his prep career at Collierville High School under head coach Jeff Hopkins.

Austin Peay State University Baseball to resume opening game of Red-Black World Series Thursday

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – Due to saving pitchers for later appearances in the five-game set, Game 1 of the Austin Peay Baseball Red-Black World Series ended in a 2-2 extra-inning draw on Wednesday from Raymond C. Hand Park.

However, both teams will pick things up on Thursday at 3:30pm, in the ninth inning to complete the opening game.
