APSU Baseball - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s baseball team has changed the date and time of its upcoming contest against Southern Illinois due to rain forecast for the Clarksville area.

The two teams now will play a 4:00pm, Wednesday contest at Raymond C. Hand Park.

Alex Vegh career day puts APSU Golf in Sixth place

APSU Men's Golf - Austin Peay State UniversitySavannah, GA – Freshman Alex Vegh carded the finest 36 holes of his Austin Peay State University men’s golf career to help put the Govs in sixth place after the first day of the Invitational at Savannah Harbor.

The Govs are certainly within striking distance of a top-five finish, one shot behind Bethune-Cookman (seven-over) entering Tuesday’s final round.

Instant Peay Play: Youthful APSU Men’s Golf team opens season looking to make its mark

 

Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s men’s golf team opening its 2017 spring schedule February 20th at The Invitational at Savanah Harbor, in Savannah, GA, with a youthful roster looking to make its mark early-on.

As the Govs head to the first tee box today for third-year head coach Robbie Wilson, the seven-player roster only has one senior (Erik Hedberg/Barcelona, Spain) and one junior (Hunter Tidwell/Alcoa, TN) on the squad.

APSU Baseball records nine hits but succumbs to late rally by Indiana State

APSU Baseball - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – It was another nine-run night for Austin Peay State University’s baseball team, but Indiana State rallied late to hand it a 12-9 loss, Sunday night, in the final game of the Riverview Inn Governors Challenge at Raymond C. Hand Park.  

The opening three innings were a quiet affair with the two teams scoring just three runs. The Govs held a 2-1 lead after those three frames thanks to first baseman Dre Gleason‘s two-run home run in the second inning.

For second straight day, APSU Baseball’s offense powers way to win

APSU Baseball - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Third baseman Parker Phillips‘ two-run home run supplied the eventual game winning runs as Austin Peay State University’s baseball team downed Illinois State, 9-4, in Saturday action at the Riverview Inn Governors Challenge.  

For the second straight day, Austin Peay’s offense scored in the opening frame, launching out to a three-run lead. Right fielder Chase Hamilton supplied the game’s first run with a RBI double. Two batters later, first baseman Dre Gleason jumped on a pitch for a two-run double high off the batter’s eye in center field.

APSU Governors Basketball takes care of SIU Edwardsville Saturday night, 92-84

APSU Men's Basketball - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TNJohn Murry and Kenny Jones made the most of their final appearances on the hardwood at the Dunn Center, leading Austin Peay to a 92-84 victory against SIU Edwardsville to keep the Governors Ohio Valley Conference Tournament hopes alive.

Murry scored a game-high 25 points—his fourth 20-point night in the last five outings—while Jones contributed 20, including a timely 8-for-11 showing at the charity stripe, as Austin Peay had its most efficient shooting night of the season.

APSU Governors Tennis loses at home to IUPUI Saturday

APSU Men's Tennis - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team dropped a close 4-3 match to IUPUI Saturday afternoon at the APSU Indoor Tennis Courts.

The Jaguars struck first taking the doubles point. Aaron Jumonville and Manuel Montenegro gave the Govs a 1-0 lead for the doubles point after they defeated David Beasley and Matt Moe 6-4, but IUPUI answered with wins at No. 3 and No. 1 doubles earning the point.

APSU Baseball - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s baseball team unleashed a four home run night, helping support starting pitcher Alex Robles en route to a 9-2 season-opening victory, Friday afternoon, in the second game of the Riverview Inn Governors Challenge at Raymond C. Hand Park.

Robles (1-0) was impressive in the opener, facing just 18 batters (three over the minimum) in his five-inning outing.

APSU Men's Basketball - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team will host SIU Edwardsville with a lot on the line in a 6:30pm, Saturday, tipoff in the Dunn Center.

At 5-8 in league play, wins are paramount for the Governors, who face a winless Cougar squad in the regular season home finale. Tennessee Tech, Southeast Missouri and Tennessee State currently stand as the sixth, seventh and eighth seeds for the OVC Tournament, each with seven wins entering the weekend.
