APSU Football head coach Mark Hudspeth announces first staff hires

APSU FootballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) head football coach Mark Hudspeth has announced the first additions to his inaugural staff.

Marquase Lovings joins the Governors as the associate head coach and defensive line coach, Eddy Morrissey will serve as the offensive line coach and run game coordinator, Chad Bumphis will be wide receivers coach, Mark Powell will coach the safeties, Jordan Frazier will be the director of football operations and Spencer Grubbs joins the staff as the director of recruiting.

APSU Men's TennisClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s tennis team gets its spring season underway by traveling to familiar foe Middle Tennessee, 1:00pm, Wednesday, January 16th.

The Governors are led by senior Almantas Ozelis, who was named First-Team All-Ohio Valley Conference a year ago.

APSU Men's BasketballBrentwood, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) graduate transfer forward Jabari McGhee has been named Ohio Valley Conference Men’s Basketball Newcomer of the Week for his performance against Southeast Missouri and UT Martin last week.

McGhee made game-changing plays late in the first half against both the Redhawks and Skyhawks that helped alter the game.

Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – With Austin Peay State University (APSU) students returning to class this week it not means the end of the Christmas break but the return of spring sports soon for the Governors.

While men’s and women’s basketball and the indoor track and field teams are still hot and heavy into their own schedules, soon to underway for the Govs will be baseball, Tennis and golf on the men’s side, while beach volleyball, golf, tennis, softball and outdoor track and field will kick-off their respective schedules over the next few weeks.

APSU Men's BasketballMartin, TN – That was a close one. Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s basketball team weathered a power outage, several UT Martin onslaughts and a last-gasp shot at the buzzer to prevail in a 72-70 slugfest at the Elam Center, Saturday.

The hard-fought win keeps Austin Peay (12-5, 4-0 OVC) unbeaten in Ohio Valley Conference play, while UT Martin (5-10, 0-4) once more emerged as a hard-luck loser after surrendering late leads against both Southeast Missouri and Eastern Illinois last weekend.

APSU Men's BasketballCape Girardeau, MO – In their first road test in Ohio Valley Conference play, Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s basketball team passed with flying colors, soundly defeating Southeast Missouri in a 78-60 affair at the Show Me Center, Thursday, to remain unbeaten in league play.  

From the opening tip, a physical contest ensued, with the opening minutes devoted to both teams testing one another in the first of at least two meetings this season.
