APSU’s Hannah Johstono wins Miss College Majorette of Tennessee, heads to Nationals

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University featured twirler Hannah Johstono has demonstrated her talent and skill with a baton in front of crowds both large and small during her 14 years of twirling.

A regular with the Governor’s Own Marching Band for the past four seasons, Johstono has captivated everyone from APSU fans gathered in Governor Stadium’s Tailgate Alley to 100,000 fans at Neyland Stadium as the Governors took on the University of Tennessee Volunteers.

APSU Governors Basketball assistant Corey Gipson leaving for position at Missouri State

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TNCorey Gipson, who helped lead Austin Peay State University to consecutive Ohio Valley Conference championships in 2002-03 and 2003-04 and served as assistant coach for the past three seasons, has resigned his position to accept a similar one at Missouri State, a member of the Missouri Valley Conference.

APSU Men’s Basketball announces Jason Bowen returns as assistant coach

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s newest assistant basketball coach isn’t new to the Governors at all, and certainly not to head Coach Dave Loos.

Jay Bowen, who served as the Governors basketball assistant in 2001-02, is back at APSU for a second time and a third with APSU’s head coach. He replaces Bubba Wells, who resigned in early May.

APSU Governors, Lady Govs Cross Country 2015 Schedule announced

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s men and women’s cross-country teams unveiled their 2015 slates, Wednesday, which are highlighted by the second Austin Peay Cross Country Festival as well as trips to the Greater Louisville Classic and the Cross-Country Only National Invitational.

The Governors and Lady Govs will open the 2015 season with three consecutive meets inside Tennessee borders. The season begins September 5th at the Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic hosted by Christian Brothers.

APSU Governors Baseball adds infielder TJ Conroy to 2016 Roster

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – TJ Conroy, of San Jose, California, becomes the latest middle infielder to join the Austin Peay State University baseball team’s 2016 roster as it continues adding infield depth.

Conroy, a 6-0, 175-pound middle infielder, will transfer to Austin Peay after two seasons at De Anza College – a community college located in Cupertino, California.

APSU Governors Golf, Lady Govs again to participate in Golfweek Challenge

Austin Peay State University Sports Information - , APSU, Governors, Govs, Lady GovsClarksville, TN – For the second time in four years Austin Peay State University men and women’s golf teams will open their fall season at Pawleys Island, South Carolina, in the Golfweek Program Challenge, September 6th-8th.

The event, which is now in its fifth year, is an opportunity for universities to showcase their entire golf program. In 2012, the Golf Govs finished fourth out of 12 teams while the Lady Govs were seventh.

Austin Peay State University’s Roy Gregory to retire after 24 years of service to APSU

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – After serving Austin Peay State University in multiple capacities for 24 years, Roy Gregory, executive director for University Advancement, announced he will retire on June 30th. Gregory informed colleagues and friends of his retirement plans Thursday morning.

“Austin Peay is a special place due to the great people on campus and the outstanding alumni, supporters and friends throughout the nation,” he said. “My years at APSU have been special for me and my family. I am retiring at a time when the future is indeed bright”
